The Chief Utility Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and managing all utility-related coordination aspects of construction and infrastructure projects. This role involves ensuring effective coordination with utility providers, regulatory agencies, contractors/designers, and internal teams to facilitate timely project delivery. The Chief Utility Coordinator plays a pivotal role in identifying and resolving utility conflicts, managing relocation coordination, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and standards. This position will oversee the utility coordination department, within the SUE service line.

Geographically, the primary focus is within Florida but may expand to additional states within the McKim and Creed footprint.

YOUR DAY-TO-DAY WILL INCLUDE::



  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all utility-related activities in projects.
  • Coordinate with utility providers to identify, evaluate, and resolve potential conflicts.
  • Review project plans and specifications to ensure accurate identification of utility conflicts and relocation requirements.
  • Develop and implement utility relocation schedules in alignment with project timelines.
  • Negotiate agreements with utility companies for relocation work, cost-sharing, and service continuity.
  • Ensure all utility coordination efforts comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to integrate utility requirements into project design and execution.
  • Conduct field visits to verify the accuracy of utility locations, ensure compliance, and address on-site challenges.
  • Prepare, review, and maintain records, including utility agreements, permits, and correspondence.
  • Monitor utility relocation budgets and ensure adherence to project cost constraints.
  • Provide regular updates to stakeholders on utility coordination progress and potential risks.
  • Lead meetings with utility companies and project teams to discuss and resolve utility-related issues.
  • Stay informed on advancements in utility coordination practices and emerging technologies.
  • Assist with generating new clients and market expansion.
  • Expand the revenue and profitability within service line.
  • Develops and maintains positive relationships with clients and employees and ensures ongoing satisfaction of the organization.
  • Contribute to strategic planning, direction, and goal setting.


    WHAT YOU'LL NEED:



    • H.S. diploma or equivalent.
    • Minimum of 20 years of experience in utility coordination, construction management, or civil engineering.
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
    • The ability to balance multiple work assignments on multiple projects at the same time.
    • Strong understanding of utility systems, including water, sewer, gas, electric, and telecommunications.
    • Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction plans, blueprints, and technical drawings.
    • Excellent communication skills, and the ability to negotiate and resolve utility conflicts.
    • The ability to complete work consistently, with moderate flexibility to accommodate varying demands from Project Managers.


    WHAT WILL MAKE YOU STAND OUT:

    • Experience managing large-scale infrastructure and design-build projects is preferred.
    • Familiarity with design software such as AutoCAD Civil3D and Microstation ORD.
