Assistant Director, Recreation Department of Recreational Services Dunwoody Campus Georgia State University, Department of Recreational Services, is searching for an outstanding candidate to fill the role of Assistant Director, Recreation (Perimeter College). This position is based at the Dunwoody Perimeter College Campus. Primary responsibilities include supervising, developing, promoting, and implementing a comprehensive recreation program at our Perimeter campuses (Dunwoody, Newton, Decatur, Clarkston, Alpharetta). This position does require traveling to different campuses throughout the semester. WHAT MAKES The Department of Recreational Services A GREAT PLACE? * A flexible work environment * Generous benefits, including health, dental, vision, tuition assistance, retirement, etc. * A knowledge-sharing organization that works collaboratively with diverse partners. * Professional development opportunity and mentorship * A rapidly growing center within an academic setting HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO * Assist with assessment efforts focusing on identifying participation levels, program participant interest, and learning and development objectives. * Develop recommendations and implement new programs and activities. * Develop risk management procedures to include participant safety, emergency action plans, ensure all staff have CPR/First Aid, and AED certifications, and ensure equipment is reviewed and maintained for safety. * Supervise, mentor, evaluate, and effectively directly lead 2 full-time Coordinators (1.0 FTE), and 3-4 Hourly Professionals (.475 FTE), 12 student assistants and indirectly lead 1 Graduate Assistant, 30+ student assistants. * Support with the recruitment, hiring, training, and scheduling of student staff in the positions of student assistants, fitness instructors, lifeguards, and officials. * Coordinate group exercise classes to include hiring, supervising, evaluating, scheduling, and payroll for qualified instructors. * Coordinate intramural events that include league, tournaments, team and individual competitions. Hire, supervise, evaluate, and schedule officials and scorekeepers. * Develop and enforce policies and procedures for program-specific responsibilities and offerings. * Supervise and monitor the registration process for participants. * Supervise daily operation of drop-in activity space that includes cardio/strength rooms, game areas, basketball/tennis courts, outside field space, and pool (if applicable). * Hire, train, and supervise student staff that monitor those areas. * Develop and enforce drop-in use and staffing policies and procedures based on industry standards, University policies, and patron eligibility. * Maintain effective working relationships with the Associate Director, Operations, Associate Director, Programs and Marketing Specialist to develop marketing strategies and promotional materials. * Collaborate with campus partners that include but are not limited to GSU Police, Greek Life, and Athletics to develop collaborative programs and services that support student success. * Work with direct supervisor, Associate Director of Operations, and the Business Services staff in developing and managing the Perimeter College Recreation program budget(s) including payroll, equipment, and supplies. * Initiate all purchase authorization and reimbursement forms. * Work collaboratively with other divisions and department staff to define facility maintenance requests and schedule appropriately. * Attend state, regional, and national tournaments/workshops and support the committees that serve at these events. * This position will work on the Atlanta campus when needed. * Other duties as assigned. * This position will require some weekend and evening hours. Minimum Hiring Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and five years of related experience, or a combination of education and experience. Preferred Hiring Qualifications: Master's degree in Recreation, Sports Administration or related field. 3 years of experience specifically in a University Recreation program. College/Business Unit
