This position coordinates a variety of student success efforts of the Office of the Dean of Students that are focused on student retention, persistence and graduation. The Coordinator serves as a liaison between the Office of the Dean of Students and university departments to handle a wide range of inquiries and problems, assists with crisis response issues concerning students, coordinates aspects of the university's Emergency Withdrawal process, and develops engagement programming for students, among other duties.

HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO

* Coordinates the Office of the Dean of Students retention efforts by meeting with students who need general assistance or guidance in matters concerning University regulations, policies/procedures, homelessness and foster care system.

* Under the direction of the Assistant Dean of Students-Student Support, serves as a liaison between the Office of the Dean of Students and faculty, staff and administrators in a variety of academic, student service and administrative departments to handle a wide range of inquiries and problems; develops and maintains a network of key colleagues to assist with timely resolution of student problems; works closely with staff to respond to internal and external requests for information.

* Assists with Crisis Response issues concerning students, such as death, injury, and accidents, which may involve some evening or weekend assignments.

* Serves as the Dean of Students' designee in a variety of capacities including the administration of relevant University policies as well as representing the Dean of Students on appropriate university committees.

* Coordinates aspects of the University Emergency Withdrawal process including meeting with students, preparing and updating application materials, reviewing files and verifying documentation, rendering decisions according to university policy, communicating with students regarding decisions and appeals, and maintaining all appropriate records.

* Provides direct and functional supervision to undergraduate student employees, graduate administrative assistants, and student interns in the Office of the Dean of Students.

* Assists the Assistant Dean of Students with the daily student support functions of the Office of the Dean of Students, including general office coverage, student receptionist function, record maintenance and tracking systems, departmental compliance with appropriate policies and procedures and/or legal mandates, and web design/publications.

* Collects, analyzes, and reports information to be used for university-level reports or briefings; prepares, reviews and edits various annual and periodic reports and proposals as well as relevant sections of various institutional, division and department publications.

* Assists in special projects assigned by the Associate Dean of Students.

* Creates and maintains an ongoing assessment plan to measure student learning outcomes as well as to ensure institutional effectiveness and relevance of programmatic efforts.

* Maintain accurate records of student requests for assistance and Office of the Dean of Students outreach.

Qualifications :

Minimum Hiring Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and three years of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience.

Preferred Hiring Qualifications:

Experience managing an intake process in a university setting.

Experience utilizing BANNER for a student intake and/or advisement process.

Experience applying policies as part of a decision-making process.

Experience developing and utilizing longitudinal data for outcome-driven assessment efforts.

Experience working collaboratively with students, faculty and staff on university committees and/or with departments to develop and implement programmatic initiatives.

Evidence of knowledge and application of student development theory.
