Summary of Role:

The Director of Talent Development provides vision, leadership and management to the organization-wide, comprehensive Learning and Development function that translates business and competency requirements into learning and development strategies that enhance employee skills and organizational effectiveness.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Set the vision and strategy for the overall corporate learning plan, aligning to company goals and vision.

  • Lead the Talent Development team in all aspects of corporate training and development, including new hire training, culture training, professional skills, operational skills, sales/advocacy skills, leadership development, third-party training engagement

  • Lead the Talent Development team in establishing a plan to measure learning retention and behavioral change as a result of training programs.

  • Communicate with Senior Leadership Team, management, and staff across the company to plan and implement ongoing short, medium, and long-term training needs analyses, and ensure that all learning programs align with company goals.

  • Coach the Talent Development team, determining strengths and targeting assignments to make best use of individual strengths to achieve department and company goals.

  • Oversee the Leadership Development program and facilitate leadership training to all managers.

  • Oversee the maintenance of standardized training curriculum that supports corporate objectives and vision.

  • Recommend changes to programs and policies/procedures; seek innovation specific to program enhancement, new program development and the use of technology to enhance the efficiency of training delivery. Frequently assess teaching aids and enhance or replace as appropriate.

  • Report on quarterly training impact including monthly training hours, feedback and learning rates from staff training, and training impact on organizational goals.

  • Work with outside training providers to deliver on-site and off-site programs as needed.

  • Provide learning opportunities consistent with adult learners and apply appropriate training methods. Ensure that multiple adult learning methodologies are employed to ensure that all participants have a strong opportunity for success in applying their training in the workplace.

  • Represent credit union at local and national Talent Development events and seek opportunities to be visible throughout the organization and to understand business functions.

  • Communicate and present effectively and dynamically with individuals and in group settings.

  • Champion and instill the organizational service-oriented, people-centric culture that cultivates the talents of every individual.

  • Model exceptional standards of confidentiality, accuracy, empathy, and growth mindset. Champion a strong learning culture across the entire organization.

  • Manage and oversee department budget.

Minimum Job Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Organizational Development, Organizational Psychology, Education, Business Management, or related area. Masters' Degree in any of the above areas preferred.

  • Seven (7)+ years of experience in employee training, organizational development, and/or other related experience.

  • At least five (5) years of management experience, including building a team and leading a team through change.

  • Industry-specific certification preferred, such as teacher certification, Certified Professional in Talent Development (CPTP), or Associate Professional in Talent Development (APTD).

  • Proven ability to affect organizational change, build learning programs from the ground up, and gain support for learning initiatives from management and executives.

  • Strong member advocacy and service background.

  • Demonstrated experience developing, implementing and measuring learning solutions that are based on adult learning theory and methodologies.

  • Ability to interpret financial data and policies and apply to training initiatives.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interface with all levels within the organization.

  • Forward thinker who embraces change with excitement and drive, and views their role from a strategic perspective.

  • Magnetic, enthusiastic leader, coach, and motivator who is dynamic and passionate about their work.

  • Strong planning and project management skills.

  • Excellent training and presentation delivery skills.

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, auditory) and interpersonal skills, including: coaching, mentoring, and giving feedback.

  • Regularly attends external training and stays current on latest Talent Development industry trends.

  • Flexibility to travel as needed.

Starting Compensation: $97,371-$126,582 annually, plus a competitive benefits package.
