The Opportunity: Patient Care Associate - Emergency Department Observation Unit -Austen 1
Austen 1 is a specialized unit designed for efficient, ongoing medical treatment, assessment, and reassessment of patients before the appropriate decision can be made to either discharge or admit. Our emergency observation unit is a care area that is separate but adjacent to the main emergency department. Austen 1 is a 19-bed care area dedicated to patient care of emergency room patients who require more care but are expected to be discharged within 24 hours. The Patient Care Associate (PCA) will assist the RNs in the Emergency Department Observation Unit (EDOU) with a variety of functions including vitals, phlebotomy and EKGs, transport patients, check rooms and equipment, assist patients with dressing and feeding and some clerical functions. Our Patient Care Associate team prides themselves in responding to patient requests in a timely manner, safeguarding patient confidentiality, monitoring patient safety, and always communicating in a respectful manner.
