Mechanical Engineer - Parts and Service Division

POSITION OBJECTIVE

The Mechanical Engineer designs, develops, prototypes, and tests all aspects of mechanical components, equipment, and machinery. The Mechanical Engineer develops specifications for new parts or prototypes. Identifies appropriate materials and processes to ensure the quality, performance, and manufacturability of products. The Mechanical Engineer uses CAD software and other design and modeling tools to develop and improve parts and products. The Mechanical Engineer conducts analysis and tests to determine root cause of failures in prototypes or products.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Designs and develops products by studying customer requirements and researching different solutions.
  • Works with a design team to create design sketches, layouts, and plans.
  • Uses computer-assisted design (CAD) software to create preliminary and detailed drawings of the product.
  • Builds models and prototypes of the product and tests the design.
  • Prepare Bills of Material (BOM) and provide purchasing department with specifications for ordering electrical components and assemblies.
  • Studies the test data and makes comparisons with similar designs.
  • Handles product change requests by modifying current product design and completing the product change notice
  • Perform other assignments as instructed by their manager.

  • Exhibits commitment to health and safety standards and environmental regulations.
  • Participates in a cross-functional team to develop new products, sustain current products, detect problems, implement solutions, assist operations and provide aftermarket support.



EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE



  • Bachelor Degree, Preferred
  • Minimum Years of Experience Necessary: 0 to 2 years


REQUIRED PHYSICAL EFFORT



  • Some travel to mines, supplier locations, etc. which may include overseas travel.
  • On occasion, will need to work with production personnel during assembly and testing of the rigs.
