2nd shift VVS Braider Operator

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Operate vertical braiders.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS/ SCOPE:

• Report directly to Value Stream Team Leader
• Work closely with Maintenance to resolve issues with the equipment

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Operate assigned machines
2. Identify and load appropriate tube, layer stock, yarn, and wire in assigned machines
3. Identify and eliminate known defects
4. Document good and nonconforming product
5. Correctly fill out required paperwork daily
6. Train new employees as needed
7. Detect and report problem areas or unusual conditions to supervisor
8. Always maintain equipment and work areas in a clean and orderly condition
9. Use personal safeguards for hands, feet, and eyes as prescribed
10. Perform related and other duties assigned by supervisor

DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC/ NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Work safely in accordance with regulations, standards, and procedures, and in a manner that eliminates unreasonable risk to health and the environment. Notify management of unsafe conditions or practices, unlawful activities and activities which present unreasonable health and/or environmental risk. Report all safety and/or environmental incidents to management immediately.
2. Prevent excess waste of product and/or components by operating the equipment in an efficient manner.
3. Maintain production schedules.
4. Work with groups in initiating and implementation of programs such as Lean Manufacturing and 5-S.

Other duties may be assigned later.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

1. Required PPE:
   1. Safety glasses
   2. Hearing protection in certain areas
   3. ANSI Z41 Safety Shoes
   4. Kevlar gloves in certain areas
2. Standing is required for extended periods of time. Walking, carrying, stooping, bending, reaching & lifting are done on a frequent basis. Climbing, lifting overhead, pushing, pulling & grasping are performed on an occasional basis.
3. Requires high degree of manual dexterity, which could be performed under restrictive conditions.
4. Requires flexible hours and short notice for overtime.
