Dotdash Meredith is committed to diversity, equity and inclusion and representing the communities that we serve. We strongly encourage BIPOC and LGBTQIA students to apply.

Deadline to Apply: Friday, February 14th

  • You must be available to work full time for the entire 9 weeks of the program in the NY office, 3 days a week

  • You must have access to your own housing and transportation to/from the NY office

About the Team:

The Travel + Leisure team comprises editors and designers who work across the T+L website and print product, which is produced monthly. As a top travel media brand in the world, Travel + Leisure's mission is to inform and inspire passionate travelers, which we do regularly by producing destination roundups, in-depth features, and tentpole projects that are core to the brand.

About the Role:

As a Travel + Leisure Intern, you will learn how the brand is expressed on both print and digital platforms, taking part in tasks like fact-checking, organizing databases, and writing copy in various forms. The main responsibility of this role will be assisting the Special Projects Editor with tasks associated with the World's Best Awards - the biggest tentpole of the brand - which launches online in July, and in print in August. This will be a very hands-on role, and will require the intern to wear many hats.

Responsibilities will Include:

  • Fact-checking and gathering contact information, specifically as it pertains to properties and destinations that win the World's Best Awards

  • Assisting with in-person events associated with the World's Best Awards, which includes a two-day summit and party, both occurring in July

  • Learning how print and digital intersect; the intern will work with the Special Projects Editor to decide what content from the monthly print issues goes online

  • Pitching content! By the end of this internship, the intern should have a strong grasp on what makes a T+L story, and be able to pitch a story idea to either the print or digital team

  • Writing roundups for print and digital platforms, as needed

About You:

Candidates for this role should have or be:

  • Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills

  • Organization is an essential asset to this role

  • A passion for all things travel and storytelling

  • An open mind! This intern will be working with the Special Projects Editor during crunch time for the World's Best Awards, and there will be a lot of moving parts. The intern should be open to new challenges and excited to grow within a fast-paced, expanding, and constantly evolving organization

  • Drive and creativity; This person should be a self-starter that can take direction and run with it, asking questions up front to ensure you're able to complete the task successfully

  • Ideally, on track to a degree in journalism, English, marketing, or communications; but we are open to all candidates in order to find the right person

  • A motivated problem solver who will proactively troubleshoot and create solutions

  • Experience with Google & Microsoft Suites.

  • Some experience with digital media and content management systems is a plus, but not required

  • Some experience with InCopy is a plus, but not required
