Position Summary:
The Reporting and Technology Analyst for Career Development Services
plays a crucial role in enhancing student career readiness through data-driven
decision-making and technology integration. This position is responsible for
the collection, analysis, and dissemination of data related to NJIT student
career outcomes and experiential learning completion. The Reporting and
Technology Analyst oversees career services technology tools, including
Handshake, and manages vendor relationships while ensuring seamless
functionality and user experience. By actively seeking out new and innovative
tools and staying current with Career Services best practices, this role
supports NJIT students in their career development and job attainment.
Additionally, the manager collaborates closely with the Offices of Institutional
Effectiveness, Strategic Communications & Marketing, and Information
Systems & Technology on data sharing and technology integration.

Essential Functions:
The Reporting and Technology Analyst will perform the following
responsibilities:
Career Outcomes Reporting
- Manage the implementation, data collection, and reporting of our First Destinations Survey annually to track the post-graduation outcomes of NJIT students.
- Conduct surveys through Handshake or additional surveying tools. Collaborate with the Office of Institutional Effectiveness and other units across campus to collect all available data on student outcomes.
- Compile data from multiple sources and produce our annual First Destinations report, following guidelines set by professional organizations such as the National Association of Colleges & Employers (NACE). Report standardized data sets to NACE to contribute to national trend data.
- Identify and implement technology enhancements to streamline data workflows, improving the accuracy and accessibility of career outcomes data for campus-wide decision-making.
- Establish methods for internship and experiential learning tracking to more accurately understand Experiential Learning completion trends.
- Provide periodic reports on hiring activity and student outcomes to Office of Institutional Effectiveness, Development & Alumni Relations, and academic departments for various purposes including accreditation, rankings, and coordinated corporate outreach.

Handshake & Vendor Management

Manage vendor relationships with 5-10 outside platforms utilized by Career Development Services staff and consult with Information Services & Technology to ensure proper functionality, compliance, and integration with existing NJIT infrastructure.
- Continuously explore and integrate new tools and software improvements to expand Career Development Services' capabilities, improve student engagement, and ensure seamless data integrity and functionality.
- Ensure the integrity and accuracy of data within our Handshake platform, managing the upload of student data with Student Information Services, overseeing the archiving of outdated employer contacts, and assisting in proper labeling of both student and employer data for multiple purposes.
- Collaborate with Enterprise Applications, Office of Information Services & Technology to contribute employer relationship data to aid in the creation of a university-wide CRM. Establish methods to effectively share employer engagement data with corporate engagement colleagues across campus.

Technical Support

Manage the Career Development Services website, exploring ways to enhance the usability and accessibility for students. Ensure information is accurate, up to date, and in line with the standards established by Web Services and our Office of Strategic Communications & Marketing. Explore additional features such as Chatbots or interactive dashboards.
- Oversee technology usage for the staff of Career Development Services, serving as a liaison to the Information Services & Technology division of NJIT, and ensuring staff have proper equipment, software, and technical support.
- Consult with Media Services, Telecommunications, and others across campus to ensure proper media and technology support for large-scale events such as our Career Fairs.
- Oversee the creation and execution of periodic reports on topics including student outcomes, program evaluations, cooperative education, experiential learning, and student utilization of our services.
- Occasionally assist and advise students or alumni on issues related to access or proper usage of career services platforms.

Technology Innovation and Data Engineering

Implement custom
technology solutions to streamline data workflows and support data-driven
decision-making.
- Develop and deploy
automation tools for data processing and reporting, reducing manual
workload and improving accuracy using tools like Power BI, Tableau, and
custom scripts.
- Engineer interactive
dashboards and data visualizations that reveal trends in career outcomes
and experiential learning, supporting strategic planning and assessment efforts.
- Drive innovation by
evaluating and implementing software improvements and new tools that
enhance platform functionalities, expand student engagement, and ensure
seamless user experience.

Prerequisite Qualifications:

Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a related field such as Business Analytics, MIS, Mathematics, Statistics, or other technical discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years work experience, preferably in a Higher Education or Career Services setting. Preferred experience in roles related to technology oversight. technical support, database management, and data analysis.
- Understanding of survey techniques and methodologies, with the ability to write and implement effective surveys and analyze and report on results.
- Knowledge of statistical analysis methods and data visualization tools such as PowerBI and Tableau.
- Technical proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Access and the aptitude to quickly learn new technologies. Preferred experience with Career Services Management platforms such as Handshake.
- Strong ability to interpret data and effectively communicate results, trends, and projections for multiple audiences in both verbal and written form.
- At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
