SUMMARY

Performs operations connected with the layout, sequencing and MIG and TIG welding methods and techniques to produce a variety of complex to simple, one-time-only, fixtures, new machine assemblies, and other R&D requirements for the plant as well as the welding of new molds and molds needing repair. Welding requirements include an array of metals and material strengths.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:



  • Assembles and welds parts as needed.
  • Assists in the development of fixtures as required.
  • Selects electrodes and size tips of welding rod. Sets up and regulates pressures and flow of gas or other materials. Performs welding operations following determined sequence; taking care to block, clamp and hold work in relative position to avoid distortion.
  • Selects current, voltage, electrode type and size to obtain proper fusion and to meet specifications of the metals utilized. Hand grinds and snag welds as necessary.
  • Measures and cuts off stock for welding, sets up and operates cut off machine, manual Bridgeport and lathe machines.
  • Assists in the monitoring of welding supplies as needed.
  • Diagnoses, and remedies product, product quality, operational problems requiring sound and timely decisions. Works independently to resolve work-related problems; referring the more unusual or difficult to supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Follows company policies and practices as outlined in the Employee Handbook and/or applicable employment agreement. Follows safety guidelines and procedures in accordance to the job.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.


WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

Qualifications include:



  • Minimum of 1-2 years MIG and TIG welding experience.
  • Ability to set up and operate manual Bridgeport and lathe type machines.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:



  • AWS D1.2 certification.

  • Must have the ability to complete assignments within the timeframe specified by the Manager.
  • Must be flexible regarding working hours and overtime. Must be able to work overtime on evenings and weekends, with or without advanced notice.
  • Must be able to operate in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS



  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be constantly required to execute standard physical activities While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be occasionally required to execute standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e. stand, walk, sit, use hands/fingers).
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be occasionally required to execute non-standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e. climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch).
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
  • This position requires repetitive hand/wrist activities.
