Pay Grade/Pay Range: Minimum: $48,600 - Midpoint: $60,800 (Salaried E7)

Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 4:45pm

Job Summary: The Postdoctoral Fellow provides for an internship and continuation of scholarly activity and research after achieving the Ph.D. or other doctoral degree under the direction of a senior faculty member who serves as a mentor for the postdoctoral appointee.

Additional Department Summary: Works with Dr. Chao-Chin Yang in astrophysical research utilizing computer simulations and/or theoretical analyses to investigate dynamical processes in protoplanetary disks around a young star as well as the implications of these processes to planet formation, observations of protoplanetary disks, and the Solar System.

The term of the appointment will be initially two years, with a potential extension of a third year. Inquiries about this position can be directed to Dr. Yang at ccyang@ua.edu.

Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in astronomy, planetary sciences, or a closely related field.

Candidates will need to have completed their Ph.D. or have it completed by the start of employment. Preferred Qualifications: Research experiences in protoplanetary disks, planet formation, and/or theoretical/computational astrophysics.
