Position Description
The Simulation Educator collaborates with TTUHSC faculty to meet the specific learning needs of TTUHSC students and residents to develop, coordinate, implement and evaluate simulation-based education. Collects data to ensure the curriculum is consistent with current simulation accreditation standards. Provides curriculum and learning objective expertise.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Design and develop interactive online learning modules that train standardized patients, TTUHSC Simulation Program Team members, faculty, and staff in healthcare simulation best practices.
  • Evaluates simulations and simulation-based assessments with/without standardized patients according to the Healthcare Simulation Standards of Best Practices in collaboration with simulation team and faculty.
  • Develops learning materials across a variety of modalities (synchronous and asynchronous, in-person, blended, virtual) for ongoing professional development for healthcare simulation faculty and staff in the areas of simulation pedagogy, scenario development, standards of best practice for simulation and standardized patients, and debriefing techniques.
  • Contribute to the overall needs for the Division of Data Strategy, Program Evaluation, and Accreditation, ensuring that courses developed generate records that meet requirements for Society for Simulation in Healthcare accreditation standards.
  • Develops processes for activity evaluation based on Healthcare Simulation Standards of Best Practices and ensures a continuous quality improvement plan is met for simulation-based activities that reoccur.
  • Collaborate with all TTUHSC Simulation Program Leadership and Divisions, subject matter experts, and Instructional Designers at TTUHSC to create and curate content and implement appropriate instructional technologies and tools (e.g. multimedia, simulations, interactive modules, quizzes, and learner assessments) that align with educational goals, measure learner engagement and learner outcomes.
  • Collaborate with Instructional Designers to use and analyze data from the Learning Management System and other sources to analyze learner engagement, performance, course accessibility standards, and course effectiveness. Apply insights to inform course revisions and enhance student learning outcomes.
  • Analyze assessment and quiz data to measure learning effectiveness and identify areas where learners demonstrate deficits.
  • Collaborates with team members to ensure appropriate database for activity evaluation is up to date and meets expectations for Society for Simulation in Healthcare accreditation.
  • Collaborate with leaders for initiatives surrounding microcredentialing and badging at TTUHSC and develops courses in collaboration with the TTUHSC Simulation Program that result in microcredentialing/badging.
  • Collaborate regularly with the Senior Director of Simulation Information Technology Integration to ensure alignment for all courses meets TTUHSC Information Technology guidelines.
  • Stay current with trends in simulation, and technology, and make recommendations for improving the learning experience, updating course content, and evaluating simulations.
  • Performs other duties as needed.


Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree plus four years of related experience; OR a combination of education and/or supervisory experience to equal eight years. Graduate degree preferred and will count for two of the 4 years' experience requirement. Prior experience working in simulation education environment preferred.
