Description

The Songtao Jia Lab in the Department of Biological Sciences at Columbia University invites applications for a NIH funded postdoctoral position at the rank of Postdoctoral Research Scientist. The appointments will be initially for one year with the possibility of renewal for up to a total of five years, contingent upon the availability of funds and satisfactory performance.

The Jia lab uses cutting-edge interdisciplinary approaches to study the mechanism of epigenetic inheritance. The central focus is to use heterochromatin assembly in fission yeast as a model to study how histone modifying enzymes are targeted to specific genomic locations and how they respond to environmental signals to regulate epigenetic inheritance. The lab also uses yeast and mammalian systems to study the molecular mechanisms by which the misregulation of histone modifying activities, such as through oncogenic histone mutations, lead to human diseases, and identify new pathways that can serve as therapeutic targets. Detailed information and publications can be found at our website: https://jia.biology.columbia.edu

Salary will be commensurate with research experience, with a minimum of $71,050/year. Candidate may be eligible for Columbia University housing, which close to the university and generally priced below market rates.
