What you'll do

As a Senior RF Engineer in Product Engineering, we provide technical support and leadership for ongoing production activities related to mmW modules and SSPA. This will include monitoring yields, test margin and resolution of technical issues impacting production. You will participate in both Engineering and Operations environments - this position crosses the boundaries between Engineering and Operations - expertise in both domains is desired. This position carries high visibility within Viasat. You will be working on programs that directly affect our performance! You will investigate and propose solutions to complex problems involving the design and production of complex RF and baseband communications hardware (RF and analog circuitry). Analysis of test data; manipulate and interpret test results. Identify defects and issues affecting performance. Mentor production technical resources. Identify and facilitate new tools to assist in streamlining test flow. Prepare for and present technical findings. Work with suppliers to solve complex problems affecting product yield and performance. Travel to suppliers and other company locations as necessary.

What you'll need

  • An experienced professional with a solid understanding of RF microwave transmitter, receiver and amplifier circuit design
  • Experienced in passive and active microwave and mmW design using discreet and MMIC devices
  • Experienced in high power SSPA design
  • Experience supporting RF development using outside contractors
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, a related field or equivalent years of experience
  • 10+ years of related experience
  • Strong bench (troubleshooting skills). Must be well versed in the use of modern RF test equipment.
  • Experience in the design, production and test of microwave communications hardware and assemblies. RF circuit design simulation skills are a significant plus.
  • Must have excellent computer skills
  • Able to work on projects or a program of complex scope with minimal supervision (emphasis will be on results).
  • US Citizenship is required
  • Ability to commit to 20% domestic and international travel
  • Able to work out of our office in Tempe, AZ, Carlsbad, CA or Duluth, GA

Salary range

$139,500.00 - $198,500.00 / annually.
For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $173,000.00- $234,000.00/ annually
