TITLE: Extrusion Technician C

POSITION OBJECTIVE: To assist the Extrusion department with monitoring and maintaining an operational extrusion line. To effectively and competently use a computer to enter production data and related aspect of line conditions.

QUALIFICATIONS:



  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Six (6) months of experience in an extrusion department.
  • Good oral, written, and organizational skills.
  • Basic math and computer skills.
  • Ensure consistent, dependable attendance and demonstrate a willingness to accommodate non-standard work hours as necessary.
  • Capable of effectively managing job-related stress and fostering productive workplace interactions.



JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Review customer orders on the production instructions.
  • Set lengths/widths as orders require.
  • Print out pallet ticket from the paperless system.
  • Cut sheets to test dimensions / thickness.
  • Review and verify that formulations are correct.
  • Transport pallets from the line to staging areas.
  • Communicate with Assistant Shift Supervisors / Leads when problems with the line arise.
  • Maintain a clean working area / environment.
  • Monitor all hoppers to ensure adequate resin amounts.
  • Change screens and clean die during a line shutdown for cleaning and prep to start-up.
  • Learning the basic QC standards and how to check
  • Learn and keep Profile's recycling program going.
  • Keep all Profile product clean and dirt free at all times.
  • Complete any other task assigned by Superiors.
  • Must have regular, reliable attendance, and willing to work outside the regular schedule as required.
  • Willing to handle job stress and interact with others in the workplace.



TRAINING:



  • Inteplast Basic Required Training (OSHA)
  • Inteplast Basic Required Training (Safety)
  • ISO Awareness - The Basics
  • Forklift certification
  • On the job training with Lead Operator and Shift Supervisor as well as training from Senior or Plant Management



AUTHORITY / DECISION MAKING:



  • Maintain and monitor an operational extrusion line.



MACHINES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT, ELECTRONIC DEVICES & SOFTWARE:



  • Daily PPE i.e. Steel toe shoes, Gloves, glasses and hearing protection (when needed)
  • Computer for paperless system extrusion process
  • Caliper for checking quality of product
  • Die grinder when cleaning a line
  • Tip cleaners
  • Brass scrapers
  • Utility knife
  • Tape measure
  • Feeler gauges
  • Forklift



PHYSICAL ACTIVITY REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION:



  • Balancing, maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing or crouching on narrow, slippery or erratically moving surfaces.
  • Stooping, bending body downward and forward by bending spine and waist. Example: Changing paper in printer, copier machine.
  • Kneeling, bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
  • Reaching, extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction. Example: Giving signals, reaching for material or handle on item.
  • Standing, particularly for sustained periods of time. Example: Making copies, giving presentations, directing traffic.
  • Walking, moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances.
  • Pushing, using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward.
  • Pulling, using upper extremities to exert force in order to drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
  • Lifting, raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position.
  • Fingering, picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working primarily with fingers rather than the whole hand or arm as in handling.
  • Grasping, applying pressure to an object with fingers and palm.
  • Talking, expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; via face to face or telephone.
  • Hearing, perceiving the nature of sounds with no less than a 40 db loss @ 500 Hz, 1,000 Hz and 2,000 Hz with or without correction. Ability to receive verbal communication and to make fine discriminations in sound, such as when making fine adjustments on machined parts.
  • Repetitive motions, substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands and/or fingers. Example: Filing, sorting mail, starting ignition of machinery.



VISUAL ACTIVITY REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION:



  • Visual acuity:
  • Clear vision at various distances, allowing the operator to see pallets, obstacles, and other workers clearly.
  • Depth perception:
  • The ability to judge distances accurately, essential for maneuvering the forklift close to objects and aligning the forks with pallets.
  • Peripheral vision:
  • A wide field of view to detect movement on the sides and behind the forklift.
  • Color vision:
  • Ability to distinguish colors for safety signage and potential hazards.
  • Pre-shift inspection:
  • Forklift operators should always perform a visual inspection of the forklift before operating it, checking for any damage, fluid leaks, or tire issues.
  • Mirrors and cameras:
  • Utilizing additional mirrors and cameras can help improve visibility in blind spots.
