Job Overview:

The Warehouse Supervisor/Buyer will be responsible for purchasing the materials needed for manufacturing along with establishing appropriate inventory levels and inventory accuracy. Ensures safe, timely, and accurate completion of import and export shipments in accordance with Pregis' best practices. Supports, coaches, directs, and assists warehouse leads and team members as needed to achieve safety, quality, customer service, productivity, and continuous improvement goals while coordinating the transfer of raw materials, parts, and finished products between various production areas. Ensure material inventory levels are sufficient to meet production schedules. Responsible for safety first approach and leads team to continually improve.

Responsibilities and Duties:



  • Adheres to all Pregis Safety rules and assures all teammates adhere to all Pregis safety policies and procedures
  • Safely directs assigned personnel in their daily activities in support of the position, supporting safety initiatives
  • Responsible for the safety, quality, productivity, and service, of assigned employees
  • Effectively train, monitor, utilize resources, and provide feedback on employee performance
  • Monitor all open purchase orders, and update pricing
  • Ensure the plant has the materials needed to run the orders scheduled
  • Works with suppliers to guarantee committed dates and price reductions
  • Maintains accurate inventory levels through a cycle count program
  • Creates and updates BOM and routings for new or existing parts
  • Works closely with the production scheduler/supervisor and production manager to guarantee the schedule is met and inventory is accurate
  • Obtain freight quotes from freight forwarder and award the shipment to the most competitive carrier
  • Ensure shipments are planned, loaded, and shipped, accurately and safely. Maintains positive carrier relationships
  • Drive and support OTIF, shipping performance for two Plants and a 3PL warehouse. Research and provide input to improve OTIF, CCIs, TL Cube efficiency, and cost metrics
  • Obtain supporting documentation and submit freight claims
  • Code and validate freight invoices and send for approval. Ensure any vendor invoice discrepancies are researched and adjusted to match GR/IR
  • Conduct location survey and record bin or pallet location in the WMS system. Ensure 5S is maintained
  • Coordinates and expedites the flow of materials between departments, according to production and shipping schedules or department priorities
  • Reviews production schedules and related information and confers with department supervisors to determine material requirements to identify overdue materials and track material
  • Oversight of the Plant First In First Out (FIFO) program
  • Other duties as assigned



Education / Experience: Minimum level of education and experience required




  • Bachelor's degree required. Major in Business or Logistics preferred
  • 3-5 years of planning experience
  • 2-3 years of experience in a materials/logistics function preferred



Skills & Training: Specific skills, training, or certifications needed to perform the position.



  • Knowledge of the protective packaging industry is preferred.
  • Experience with data analysis and related tools (Excel expertise is a must); knowledge of SAP is beneficial
  • Extensive knowledge/skills in the following areas:

    • Understanding Customer Needs, Pricing & Margin Analysis, Competitive Analysis, Sales Planning




Ability to manage projects or threads of projects and perform self-directed work.
