We seek a tenure-track colleague at the rank of Assistant Professor whose research focuses on higher education and advancing diversity, access, and social justice in education and society. We are particularly interested in scholars with a research focus in at least one of our three thematic areas (i.e., Diversity, Equity, & Social Justice; STEM Education, Effective Teaching and Learning) with demonstrated ability to teach in and support the Ph.D. in Higher Education and Ed.M. in College Student Affairs Programs.
Major Responsibilities:
The scholar filling this position will conduct a research and publication agenda that advances Rutgers Graduate School of Education's pursuit of Advancing Excellence and Equity in Education; demonstrates scholarly productivity by publishing in peer-reviewed journals, securing external research support, and presenting at national and international higher education scholarly conferences; and contributes to the growth of both the Ph.D. in Higher Education and Ed.M. in College Student Affairs programs and related academic endeavors such as graduate certificate programs. The incumbent will participate in program development and innovation and teach graduate courses in both the Higher Education and College Student Affairs programs. Additionally, the scholar filling this position will advise master's and doctoral students, participate actively in local, state, and national student affairs professional organizations, and contribute to the service missions of the Graduate School of Education and the university. The scholar filling this position will:

  • Conduct a research and publication agenda, consistent with Rutgers Graduate School of Education's commitment to Advancing Excellence and Equity in Education
  • Publish in outlets that include leading higher education journals;
  • Demonstrate commitment to scholarly productivity by publishing in peer-reviewed journals and with highly respected presses;
  • Secure competitive external research support, and present at national and international scholarly conferences;
  • Participate in relevant program development and innovation;
  • Develop and teach graduate courses in higher education and college student affairs;
  • Assume an active role in the program and Department of Educational Psychology, providing graduate student advisement, teaching, mentoring and service; and
  • Participate actively in national professional organizations; and contribute to the strategic goals of the Graduate School of Education.

* Applicants must have earned a doctoral degree from a major research university in Higher Education and Student Affairs, Economics, Public Administration, Sociology, or another closely related field;
* Have experience in higher education or college student affairs;

* Demonstrated scholarly promise and accomplishment;
* Demonstrated prior successful teaching at the university level; and
