Bachoco USA is seeking a Purchasing Manager for ourCentral Officesin Fort Smith, AR.

Summary:Manages all phases of procurement and inventory control with specific focus on food ingredients. Purchasing activities are targeted to meet requirements for quality, reliability, plant and regulatory requirements at the best cost. Coordinates with Packaging Buyer to ensure consistent reporting to Planning/Scheduling, Sales/Marketing, and others needing information.

Facilitate efficient Procurement Department operation by coordinating with direct reports and other Procurement associates. Lead/ coach team members to ensure all are working to achieve personal, departmental, and company goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities




  • Interacts with Sales/Marketing, R&D, Q.A./Regulatory, Production Scheduling, Customer Services, Operations Management, Materials Planners, Suppliers.
  • Collaborates with Sales/Marketing and Production Planning/Scheduling ensuring most accurate production projections and forecast are being used for ingredients and packaging planning.
  • Coordinate with Ingredient Buyers to ensure consistent and accurate planning processes are followed.
  • Work with Purchasing and Operations associates with purchasing and inventory management responsibilities to maintain direct materials inventory levels to meet KPI goals.
  • Facilitate accurate and timely management and reporting of direct materials inventories and planned purchases when working through new product introductions, discontinuations, and/or changes.
  • Coordinates and tracks all graphics and ingredient changes to ensure accurate graphics and ingredient statements are printed, used, depleted or destroyed in conjunction with governmental and regulatory approvals.
  • Manages vendor certification program. Ensures required vendor audits are executed and documentation filed appropriately. If necessary, visit vendor facilities to ensure capability, quality, and delivery ability.
  • Ensures direct materials specifications and other documents are secured from vendors and filed appropriately.
  • Regularly visits company facilities to meet with Purchasing associates and plant management. Occasional travel to suppliers' plants for meetings and audits.
  • Contributes to the development of best-practice Purchasing processes. Documents and maintains Procurement policies, SOPs, KPIs and other documentation.
  • Other duties as required or assigned.



Supervisory Responsibilities:Manages plant Purchasing supervisors who supervise a total of five employees. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Also directly supervises one non-supervisory employee. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience:Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills:Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills:Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability:Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Accounting software; Inventory software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software. Microsoft Office experience preferred.

Experience using SAP or similar ERP systems will be very beneficial.
