Job Description

We are innovators in the automation field, specializing in drones and ground vehicles for airfield inspection and recovery. Our team designs and develops cutting-edge compute payloads, autonomy stacks, and applique kits to roboticized vehicles, enabling them to sense, move, and think independently. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and deploying advanced robotic systems. You will work closely with a small, highly skilled team of roboticists to conceptualize and bring to life innovative solutions for automation in air and ground platforms. This position offers a unique opportunity to combine technical expertise with hands-on implementation in a beautiful coastal setting.

Key Responsibilities




  • Conceptual Design: Develop innovative concepts for robotic and automated systems, considering both functional and aesthetic aspects.
  • Solid Modeling: Create detailed solid models using CAD software to visualize and refine designs.
  • Drawing and Documentation: Generate comprehensive technical drawings and specifications for fabrication.
  • Machine Shop Collaboration: Interface with the machine shop to oversee production, ensure design intent is met, and address any fabrication challenges.
  • Integration: Integrate mechanical components with existing robotic vehicles, ensuring seamless operation and compatibility.
  • Testing and Demonstration: Conduct rigorous testing of systems, troubleshoot issues, and demonstrate final systems to users and customers.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with roboticists, software engineers, and other team members to align mechanical designs with overall system goals.

Job Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience: 0+ years of experience.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, or similar) and familiarity with FEA tools.
  • Programming: Basic programming skills (e.g., Python, C++) are a plus.
  • Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, practical communication skills, and working well in a team-oriented environment.
  • Hands-on Aptitude: A passion for hands-on work, including assembly, prototyping, and testing.
  • Security Clearance:Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance is required.



Preferred Qualifications



  • Previous experience in robotics, automation, or a related field is highly desirable.
  • Hands-on experience with autonomous vehicle systems, including drones and ground robotics.
  • Knowledge of control systems, power electronics, and communication protocols (CAN, SPI, I2C).
  • Exposure to machine learning or AI applications in robotics.
  • Familiarity with field testing in dynamic environments.
