Responsibilities

Job Summary:



  • Develops and maintains the quality strategy and vision for the Howmet Wheel Systems business unit. The scope of responsibility for this role includes the business's 3 core global manufacturing locations (Mexico, US, Hungary) along with other machining/finishing and sub assembly locations (China, Japan, Australia, US).
  • Develops, implements, and improves the Quality System such as ISO9001, IATF16949, VDA 6.3 and all its functions throughout the organization.
  • Manage and direct corporate quality initiatives for standardization, Quality Systems related projects and internal audit affairs.
  • Act as the primary interface between Quality/Operations and the expert technical resources in the Headquarters.
  • Responsible to ensure that overall Quality processes, documents, and products are compliant with internal and external specifications.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Responsible for global assurance of product and process compliance to internal Quality Systems, specifications and external requirements such as customer specific requirements and regulatory compliance.
  • Manages and implements the Quality Policy, develops, documents and maintains an effective corporate Quality System in accordance with IATF16949, VDA 6.3 in applicable sites, and customer requirements, and gives direction to local Quality leaders for local QMS development and maintenance.
  • Establishes, manages and maintains goals, objectives and measurables for reviewing and monitoring the effectiveness of the corporate Quality Management System and mandatory metrics for local QMS at global sites.
  • Provides leadership and coordinate strategic business initiatives required to drive process improvement at corporate level in the achievement of a quality excellence environment.
  • Applies knowledge in quality systems to drive disciplined systems and robust processes, and focused standardization of best practices; in conjunction with managing to a cohesive set of key performance metrics that provide objective insights into the health and effectiveness of our business operating system.
  • Manages risk mitigation and containment utilizing industry standards, while collaborating with the corporate legal, commercial, manufacturing and support teams to quickly resolve open or potential Product Safety issues and other high-risk issues as requested by senior management.
  • Provides support and guidance to local Quality Managers in all sites in relation to Quality Management Systems such as ISO9001, IATF16949 and VDA 6.3.
  • Provides technical support to local Quality Managers in all sites in relation to product compliance and technical matters.
  • Provide Training and development programs to support product and process quality.
  • Develop and maintain a corporate Internal Audit process, including cross-functional and global auditor pool and competence.
  • Lead corporate Internal Audits in the global sites as part of the compliance governance according to a risk-based selection of critical sites and frequency of audit.
  • Manage the Corrective and Preventive Action process with the Director of Operational Quality and local Quality Managers as reaction to non-conformances and evaluate effectiveness of actions taken.
  • Develop and manage Regulatory Compliance process with internal and external resources to support.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree (BS) from an accredited university
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a Quality management or Technical Product Management/Design.
  • Extensive knowledge of Quality Management Systems such as ISO9001 or IATF16949 and production systems.
  • Extensive knowledge of problem solving and error proofing concepts. (8D, 5 Why, SS, 7 step, etc.)
  • Knowledge of principles and applications of statistical methods including statistical problem solving required
  • Knowledge of internal audit and governance processes.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in engineering; MBA preferred.
  • Possess a thorough knowledge of Howmet Aerospace Policies and Procedures.
  • Understand Quality Assurance procedures and techniques as related to the metals industry.
  • Evidence of Quality related continuing education
  • Professionalism and human relation skills.
  • Strong coaching and motivational skills; the ability to lead others through influence
  • Highly developed written and verbal (influencing) communication skills required.
  • Highly developed customer (internal and external) relationship skills required.
  • Knowledge of Regulatory landscape related to transportation and automotive products.
  • Lead Internal Auditor certification by an AIAG approved provider.
  • VDA 6.3 auditor certification.
  • Strong Knowledge of AIAG Core Tools.
  • Automotive manufacturing background is preferred.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt Certification.
