Inside the Role

Interns will gain knowledge and experience through exciting and real-life learning opportunities. Interns must work in accordance with DTNA's core values of passion, respect, integrity and discipline. Internship positions can be located at various DTNA locations across the US. We are looking for high performing and motivated individuals in various areas within DTNA organizations.

An intern in this role may have the opportunity to transition into a full-time position subject to manager evaluations and business availability.

In this role, an intern will gain multidisciplinary experience in mechanical engineering, machining, tooling, machine controls and machine design. The student has many opportunities to gain hands-on experience while solving real life challenges.

Some of the basic skills that will be acquired are as follows:
*Ability to read and create electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics.
*Competency in the use of Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, AutoCAD and Solid Edge.
*Draft and design tooling, fixtures and workstations to meet a desired need
*Industrial engineering- including time studies, plant layout and ergonomic workstation development
*Confer with vendors, staff and management regarding purchases, procedures, product specifications and manufacturing capabilities
*Utilize problem solving techniques to analyze problems and recommend solutions. Work close with manufacturing in the development and implementation of solutions
*Support Engineering in the areas of plant Layout concepts and verification of existing equipment
*Support Engineering and develop competency in the areas of precision machining and gauging
*Manufacturing process documentation (routing, BOM, Work instructions)

Salary placement is determined by your anticipated graduation year and ranges between $21 - $30 per hour.

What You Drive at DTNA

Student's will augment the plant engineering department by providing the following functions:

  • Troubleshooting equipment issues
  • Design/Develop solutions to technical challenges
  • Creating documentation (electrical schematics, part prints, standard work instructions)
  • Utilizing lean toolbox to build process efficiencies
  • Programming of programmable logic controllers (PLC's) and computer numerical controls (CNC's)
  • Lead and support efforts to foster a diverse, equitable, inclusive, and welcomingworkplace culture

Knowledge You Should Bring

  • Must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor's program or higher from an accredited college/university OR have recently graduated within 1 year of the position start date (May/June)
  • Must be part of a Co-Op Internship program through your current college/university and have the ability to start in August, 2025
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Solid organizational skills
  • Creative mindset
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment
  • Basic familiarity with CAD/CAM
  • Use of basic hand tools
  • Welding experience (preferred)
  • Robotics experience (preferred)
