https://ualr.edu/itservices Summary of Job Duties:The Applications Support and Maintenance role is to plan, design, develop, implement, and maintain efficient information systems and operations systems in support of core organizational functions. This individual will apply proven communication, analytical and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate and resolve systems issues in order to maximize the benefit of IT systems investments. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy. Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Science, Mathematics, or IT related field OR
  • Associates in Computer Science, Information Science, Mathematics, or I.T. related field with 3 or more years in an I.T. technical support/customer support role (I.T. hardware, software support) experience.

Preferred Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Information Science, or related I.T. field plus a minimum of five (5) years in information technology with experience managing enterprise-level applications or services.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the planning, design, development, & deployment of new applications and development of enhancements to existing applications or services;
  • Meet with systems owners, stakeholders, and end-users to define business requirements and systems goals, and identify and resolve business systems issues;
  • Provide I.T. customer technical support, training, and troubleshooting of issues as needed to end-users.
  • Ensure compatibility and interoperability of in-house computing systems;
  • Review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and develop strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems;
  • Conduct research on hardware and software products to justify recommendations and support purchasing efforts;
  • Perform cost-benefit and return on investment analyses for proposed systems to aid management in making implementation decisions;
  • Create systems models, specifications, diagrams, and charts to provide direction to system programmers and engineers;
  • Coordinate and perform in-depth tests, including end-user reviews, for modified and new systems;
  • Implement modifications for repair or development with an established change management process and communication plan;
  • Provide orientation and training to end-users for modified and new systems;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proven experience in overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software and hardware solutions, systems, or products;
  • Working technical knowledge of computer programming languages;
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Red Hat Linux operating systems on virtual devices/servers and local hardware;
  • Working knowledge of a university enterprise system;
  • Excellent understanding of the organization's goals and objectives;
  • Experience querying relational database systems such as SQLServer and Oracle;
  • Working knowledge of Project Management and process/incident handling;
  • Good project management skills;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Excellent listening and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to conduct research into systems issues and products as required;
  • Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language;
  • Self-motivated and directed;
  • Keen attention to detail;
  • Proven analytical and creative problem-solving abilities;
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment;
  • Strong customer service orientation;
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

Additional Information:

Salary Information:

$45,000.00-$55,000.00 commensurate with education and experience.
