Description

The Dining Hall Supervisor is responsible to oversee the overall operations of the main dining room area. The Dining Hall Supervisor will work closely with the Manager, Executive Chef, students and guests to ensure the dining experience is a success. This is a hands-on position and may require filling in for various functions in the Dining Hall and performing tasks along with the workers who are supervised.

Essential Functions:



  • Positively representing the Dining Hall in frequent, regular contact with faculty, staff, students & guests
  • Ensure customers are served promptly and politely and that operations are staffed and prepared for meal delivery at scheduled times
  • Constantly check and restock all food and drink items
  • Responsible for occasional operation of the register, receiving student ID cards, debit and or credit card payment for meal purchases
  • Must attend weekly staff meetings
  • Ensure health and safety regulations are strictly observed, including proper wearing of uniform and use of safety equipment, modeling by example as well as intervening with employees who need re-direction.
  • Make sure work areas, equipment, and utensils are cleaned following proper sanitation protocols
  • Maintain proper food handling, safety and sanitation standards while preparing food, serving food, and clean-up
  • Ensure proper labeling of food set-up by food services workers
  • Onboard and train new employees on Dining Hall procedures and expectations
  • Resolve customer concerns and relay relevant information to supervisor
  • Interact with co-workers to ensure compliance with company service standards
  • Assure compliance with all sanitation and safety requirements
  • Follow all rules and regulations set forth in the Washington College Employee Handbook and the Washington College Dining Services Supplemental Handbook
  • Set-up and maintain assigned food service stations throughout service periods and assist elsewhere in the unit as customer demand requires
  • Break-down, clean, and sanitize food service stations according to established procedures at the end of a service periods
  • Any other assigned tasks that are reasonable to the position and event



Qualifications

Must be able to read, write, and understand written and or verbal instructions in English

Consistently project a warm, welcoming attitude toward students and guests

Be out on the floor to be easily visible to answer any questions or concerns

Ability to problem solve and work through day-by-day events

Demonstrated ability to work in a team orientated environment

At times this position can require long hours, late nights, weekends, holidays, standing & moving in a quick pace.

Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 pounds.

Work environment is almost entirely indoors; temperature in the kitchen and dish room can be hot and steamy.
