Job Summary
A Research Scientist position is available immediately in the Biomaterials & Regenerative Medicine Laboratory in the School of Biomedical Engineering, Science, and Health Systems of Drexel University. The researcher will conduct research on a highly collaborative and translational project to investigate and control the ability of intracellular drug delivery systems to control macrophage behavior in vitro and in vivo in animal models. They will work on a team of postdoctoral researchers and graduate and undergraduate students in this research and contribute to their training in scientific research and communication. This position is supported fully by external funds; therefore, continuation of employment is contingent on receipt of those external funds.
Essential Functions
- Design and execute experiments to investigate the response of murine and human immune cells to intracellular drug delivery systems in vitro and in vivo.
- Develop a new animal model of pulmonary delivery of allogeneic macrophage cell therapy.
- Collaborate with other lab members in the analysis of macrophage cell therapies in animal models of volumetric muscle loss and vascularization.
- Preparation of progress reports and presentations for communication to external sponsors.
- Prepare submission and publication of refereed journal articles.
- Prepare submission and presentation of national/international conference abstracts.
- Assist in preparation of research proposals.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- PhD, Biomedical Engineering, Biosciences, or a related field.

- A minimum of 1 year experience.

Additional Information
This position is classified as exempt grade J. Compensation for this grade ranges from $47,490 to $71,230 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
