Who You'll Work With
You'll work in our Boston, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., New Jersey or New York office as part of our Legal Department. The Legal Department provides comprehensive legal services to our firm's leadership, consultants and support staff throughout the world.
You will advise our client serving professionals and work closely with our functional teams, including Legal, Risk, Compliance, and Internal Audit.
Your impact within our firm
McKinsey serves leading global companies across many sectors, including Banking, Insurance, Consumer, Global Energy and Materials, Healthcare, and Life Sciences. As legal and regulatory frameworks in which our clients operate become increasingly complex, companies are expected to manage legal and regulatory risks proactively. This role involves advising, supporting and managing a variety of change management practices meant to drive rigor in our approach to selecting clients and reviewing engagements, partnering with our Risk and Compliance functions to ensure our risk management program withstands scrutiny and meets internal and external stakeholder expectations.
This role encompasses a broad range of responsibilities, including:
  • Providing solution-oriented legal advice to Compliance, Risk and McKinsey business teams across various industries, including on regulatory, legal, professional and reputational risks
  • Supporting strategic and sustainable regulatory change management programs, including advising on and developing policies and guidance; managing legal processes and controls designed to address legal and regulatory expectations; and identifying and addressing opportunities to enhance remediation efforts
  • Reviewing and advising on deliverables provided to clients and developing internal best practices related to engaging in client work
  • Investigating potential violations of policy or relevant law
  • Providing guidance on legal trends and developments
  • Establishing relationships with and supervising outside legal advisors
  • Providing support on other Legal department, firm and practice initiatives and priorities as needed
The ideal candidate should have some litigation or investigations experience, or experience in regulated practices and industries as well as knowledge of or experience with regulatory and/or compliance change management practices.
Your qualifications and skills
  • 6+ years of litigation, investigations or regulatory experience across law firm, government, or in-house
  • JD and bachelor's degree, with excellent academic record
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Excellent drafting and negotiation skills
  • Experience supporting regulatory/compliance programs, projects or objectives
  • Highly organized, autonomous and collaborative
  • Confident team player with strong leadership and influencing skills
  • Self-starter with ability to drive tasks and projects to completion
  • Impeccable business and risk management judgment and ethics
  • Ability to develop relationships and network at all levels within and outside McKinsey
  • Enjoys working in a challenging, fast-paced, dynamic professional services environment with ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Skills to communicate complex ideas effectively

is $256,000 - $341,000 USD -to help you understand what you can expect. This reflects our best estimate of the lowest to highest

to remember that actual salaries may vary. Factors like your office location, your unique blend of experience and skills, start date and our current
organizational needs all play a part in determining the final figure. Certain roles are also eligible for bonuses, subject to McKinsey's discretion
and based on factors such as individual and/or organizational performance.
