SUMMARY

Responsible for the control of equipment and the processing of materials to produce consistent yield and quality injection molded products. Introduction of new tooling, machinery, equipment, and processing technologies The development and improvement of Quality Assurance programs, quality plans, process procedures and controls compliant to ISO 9001:2015. Creates, modifies, analyzes and reviews processes using statistical and lean manufacturing techniques; plans and performs product and process audits, creates and implements quality plans with emphasis on new product development, and completes other similar duties necessary for effective Quality Assurance.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Develop, optimize, and maintain injection molding processes to ensure consistent quality and efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve process-related issues to minimize downtime and scrap rates.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for process deviations.
  • Collaborate with design, quality, and production teams to ensure manufacturability and adherence to specifications.
  • Lead process validation and qualification activities for new molds and materials.
  • Monitor and analyze process performance data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Provide technical support and training to production staff on injection molding best practices.
  • Assist in the introduction of new products and equipment to production and provide technical expertise to continuously improve our existing manufacturing process.
  • Experience with large tonnage injection molding, and two shot presses, as well as familiarity with servo robots, polyolefins and engineering resins.
  • Project management of tooling, including new procurement and maintenance, from conception through production start-up, which includes working with tooling suppliers on schedules and project implementation.
  • Participate in tooling design reviews, recommend and implement tooling, automation, and process enhancement on existing systems.
  • Communicate with tooling and molding vendors as needed. Travel required for new tool run-off and to resolve issues as needed.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in injection molding technology
  • Designs and implement quality control processes, procedures, and sampling using statistical techniques. Analyzes quality data; improves upon quality systems and procedures to provide corrective and preventative actions while applying risk management to improve processes.
  • Develop quality control systems/procedures. Works closely with other teams in various disciplines in the development and application of processes/procedures such as standard operating procedures, quality standards, risk management, and continual improvement projects.
  • Interfaces with customers and vendors in resolution of problems and quality issues.
  • Provides training, direction, and project assignments to QA technicians and inspectors.
  • Perform routine audits to assure proper systems performance and maintenance.
  • Provides leadership and example for positive solution creation and problem solving.
  • Follows company policies and practices as outlined in the Employee Handbook and/or applicable employment agreement. Follow safety guidelines and procedures in accordance to the job.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.



JOB REQUIREMENTS



  • In-depth knowledge of plastic injection molding techniques and procedures, including mold design, mold set-ups, and support equipment.
  • Proficiency in process optimization techniques and statistical analysis.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in mechanical or industrial engineering.
  • Experience with CAD software and mold flow analysis is a plus.
  • Formal education in plastics engineering or an equivalent field.
  • Intermediate knowledge of risk management, process control, and continual improvement practices.
  • Intermediate knowledge of quality tools and quality systems management.
  • Competency with SPC/SQC, Process Capability Studies and Scientific Molding Techniques required.



PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:



  • 5-7 years of related experience, previous new product development and government/aerospace contract experience preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS



  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be constantly required to execute standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e. stand, walk, sit, use hands/fingers).
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be frequently required to execute non-standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e. climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch).
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • This position requires repetitive hand/wrist activities.
