Description

Job Summary:

As a Supervisor, Mail Distribution, you will oversee the preparation and processing of bulk mailing for journal publications, periodicals, standard, PSVC, 1st class and others for the United States Postal Service. You will also oversee distribution related areas such as shipping and receiving, materials, samples, handwork, recycling and other small machines as well as service as contact person for sales, account management and billing.

Essential Functions:



  • Oversee all mail line, samples, handwork, materials, shipping and receiving processes and procedures.
  • Create and implement training, operating and in-line quality checks for all mail line employees.
  • Order and maintain systems by ordering spare parts and/or service needed to keep machines operating to standard efficiencies. Order raw materials for equipment.
  • Serve as a specialist when bringing in new accounts or changing the manufacturer order on existing accounts.
  • Create and maintain period end reports and budget.
  • Collect necessary data to effectively establish new standards or modify existing standards.
  • Research and development of existing or new equipment.
  • Prioritize schedules and meets customer need dates.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities



  • Strong leadership skills and previous experience as a supervisor in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of all mailing/shipping/inventory categories and equipment.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects.
  • Ability to remain organized and self-directed in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to interface with a variety of individuals or groups on a frequent basis.
  • Ability to work with limited direction and supervision, while demonstrating good judgment and strict confidence.
  • Ability to learn computer applications as necessary for the position.
  • Must successfully complete any training or certification courses required to support or strengthen position.
  • Ability to read, interpret and follow verbal and written instructions, work procedures and other related materials.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including strong customer service skills.
  • Must communicate appropriate information accurately and clearly as needed.



Minimum Requirements:



  • High School Diploma or GED and six years' experience in bulk mail processing and distribution or similar role
  • Demonstrated advanced proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Windows based databases.
