HR Mango is looking to hire a Transportation Assistant Manager in SLC, UT!

SUMMARY

The Transportation Assistant Manager supports the Transportation Manager by overseeing the department and ensuring orders are completed on time and with quality. They work closely with Transportation Supervisors and lead a team of drivers, helpers, and dispatch staff. The role requires strong leadership, accountability, and the ability to improve and manage processes. This individual should be a self-starter with a clear vision for department growth and development.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

* Bachelors in Operations, Logistics, Business Management, or related field strongly preferred

* 2-3 years' experience in inflight catering, airport hub environment, manufacturing, logistics, or food industry managing 100+ non-exempt level employees.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

* Strong leadership experience with experience in start-up or turnaround environments

* Ability to work well under pressure and deadlines

* Strong communication skills with ability to communicate with non-exempt to upper management levels

* Strong understanding of logistics and fleet procedures

* Understanding of lean manufacturing principles and operational processes

* Good knowledge of HACCP & food safety standards

* Aptitude in showing self-initiative and follow-through

* Detail-oriented and ability to see high picture.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Supervisory and Management

* Supervise and manage the work of all the employees in all areas of the department, including dispatch, drivers, helpers, supervisors, admin staff, and general workers.

* Motivate and inspire team members to perform above expectations through proper recognition methods and programs.

* Ensure that all policies and procedures are followed per the company and client's requirements

* Communicate effectively with all crew members and team members

* Hold team members accountable for all expectations

Operations/Logistics

* Ensure compliance with all government regulatory agencies standards (example: Food and Drug Administration (FDA), United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Environmental Protection Administration (EPA), Department of Transportation (DOT), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), etc.)

* Investigate and complete incidents/accidents documentation

* Observe service operations, ensure all ramp safety, AOA safety, security rules and regulations are followed, and report any violations

* Provide solutions to problems that occur during the transportation, unloading, offloading, or any other process

* Enforce safety processes and legal requirements for transportation and other processes

* Organize regular audits on the runway and set up corrective action plans as appropriate

* Perform maintenance on the fleets and follow up to ensure proper safety maintenance.

Quality and Safety

* Ensure that all processes conform to the customer and company's specifications

* Comply at all times with good hygiene and manufacturing practices (e.g., hazard analysis and critical control points [HACCP], FIFO)

* Carry out cleaning, washing, and sanitation of premises in accordance with cleaning plan

* Investigate and complete incidents/accidents documentation

* Enforce safety processes and legal requirements for transportation and other processes.

* Organize regular audits on the runway and set up corrective action plans as appropriate.

* Perform maintenance on the fleets and follow up to ensure proper safety maintenance.

Human Resources

* Interview and determine the individuals to join your department

* Approve time off requests and other leaves of absences

* Perform performance reviews for all department team members

* Approve all timecards and resolve timecard discrepancies

* Mentor and coach team members and provide corrective actions as required

* Regular and timely attendance is expected for the position.

* Perform other duties as assigned.
