What you'll do

As the Vice President, Ethics & Compliance, you are an ethic's evangelist who drives a culture of integrity for a beloved, trusted brand. You'll deliver an effective corporate compliance program that promotes Docusign's core value of Trust and ensures Docusign complies with the laws and regulations that apply to its business and operations. You will set the program strategy, design its architecture and oversee its implementation, operations, and evolution, focusing on Code of Conduct, training and communications, regulatory compliance, anti-bribery and anti-corruption, public sector and political law compliance and trade compliance. Expansion internationally and to indirect third parties.nbsp;You will be a senior leader in the Department, as well as a member of the Legal Executive Committee.

This position is a people manager role reporting to the Chief Legal Officer.

Responsibility:

  • Identify, assess and manage legal and regulatory risk in the areas identified above, determining appropriate mitigations and coordinate with other functions to ensure effective implementation

  • Maintain standards, procedures, and internal controls designed to promote ethical conduct, foster commitment to compliance with the law, and prevent and detect violations of law and other misconduct

  • Lead the Ethics & Compliance team, setting team strategy, goals, priorities, and performance standards

  • Ensure appropriate controls for all program areas, updating and enhancing as needed to manage risk effectively

  • Collaborate with Enterprise Risk Management, Internal Audit, and other relevant departments to ensure alignment and support for program requirements throughout the Company

  • Provide strategic advice and guidance to senior management and the Board of Directors on Ethics & Compliance matters

  • Monitor, measure and report on program effectiveness to Audit Committee and other stakeholders

  • Collect Ethics & Compliance data and metrics and analyze to inform risk assessments and program enhancements

  • Drive an effective compliance training and communications program, including promoting the Code of Conduct and ensuring awareness of new and existing compliance policies, as well as resources for reporting concerns

  • Monitor and stay updated on relevant laws and regulations, communicate with stakeholders about regulatory initiatives, and assist with implementation of regulatory changes


Job Designation

Remote: Employee is not required to be in or near an office frequently and works from a designated remote work location for the majority of the time.

Positions at Docusign are assigned a job designation of either In Office, Hybrid or Remote and are specific to the role/job. What you bring

Basic

  • Degree in Law, or other relevant qualification
  • 15+ years experience as a practicing compliance and/or ethics professional in top tier law firm(s) or in-house
  • Experience in setting and successfully implementing ethics and compliance program strategies for a large, global organization
  • Executive presence and diplomacy skills to effectively implement ethics and compliance programs across multiple countries
  • Understanding of ethics and compliance risk assessment and management practices
  • Experience building an effective Ethics Compliance training and communication program
  • Experience implementing and maintaining a Trade Compliance program

Preferred

  • Ability to develop collaborative and high-level relationships, to influence key internal stakeholders and work effectively across departments
  • Deep understanding of the requirements of and experience implementing an effective anti-bribery and anti-corruption program
  • Ability to work with and build consensus among multiple teams and constituents
  • Experience within the technology industry, especially SaaS
  • Familiarity with U.S. federal, state and local government contracts and ethics issues
  • Experience navigating compliance issues involving the use of Artificial Intelligence
  • Expert verbal and written communication skills with the ability to successfully present complex and sensitive issues to executives, the Board, and other audiences
  • Critical thinking and planning skills, to ensure efficient allocation and use of resources
  • Ability to successfully manage and motivate teams

Wage Transparency

Pay for this position is based on a number of factors including geographic location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Based on applicable legislation, the below details pay ranges in the following locations:

California: $297,400.00 - $467,850.00 base salary

Illinois and Colorado: $283,100.00 - $399,875.00 base salary

Washington, New Jersey and New York (including NYC metro area): $283,100.00 - $420,025.00 base salary

Washington DC: $297,400.00 - $420,025.00 base salary

This role is also eligible for the following:

  • Bonus: Sales personnel are eligible for variable incentive pay dependent on their achievement of pre-established sales goals. Non-Sales roles are eligible for a company bonus plan, which is calculated as a percentage of eligible wages and dependent on company performance.
  • Stock: This role is eligible to receive Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
