Paralegal Summer Intern

Fike Corporation, a rapidly growing international manufacturer of pressure relief, explosion protection, fire suppression and detection equipment, has an opportunity for a Paralegal Summer Intern position. Fike is a privately held business located in Blue Springs, MO with over 400 employees locally & over 1,200 employees worldwide.

Job Summary:

This position will assist with a variety of legal transactions in a corporate environment, while working alongside a seasoned team of professionals. The intern will be exposed to a broad variety of legal tasks and processing, including legal research, document preparation, contract review, and administrative support. The overall objective of the Paralegal Intern position is to gain experience and applicable exposure, while assisting in efforts that will ultimately help to achieve department objectives.

Primary Responsibilities:

Legal Research and Analysis



  1. Conduct legal research on various topics, including corporate law, regulatory compliance, and intellectual property.
  2. Summarize statutes, case law, and regulations to support the legal team in decision-making.
  3. Assist with preparing memoranda and reports on legal findings.



Document Preparation and Review



  1. Assist in drafting, reviewing, and organizing contracts, agreements, and other legal documents.
  2. Help with proofreading and formatting legal documents to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  3. Manage the preparation of documentation for filings and other legal processes.



Contract Management



  1. Organize and maintain the company's contract management system.
  2. Review and summarize key contract provisions and assist in tracking deadlines and renewals.
  3. Support the legal team in contract execution and archiving processes.



Corporate Governance and Compliance



  1. Assist in preparing materials for board meetings, corporate filings, and other governance matters.
  2. Conduct research on compliance requirements in areas such as data privacy, employment law, and industry-specific regulations.
  3. Help with drafting and updating internal policies and procedures.



Administrative and Team Support



  1. Maintain and update legal files, databases, and records.
  2. Provide general administrative support, such as scheduling meetings, managing correspondence, and organizing files.
  3. Assist with special projects and initiatives as assigned by the Legal Department.

Performs related duties as assigned. Regular and consistent attendance is required.

Essential Skills:

Strong organizational and time-management skills. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Attention to detail and ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the environment is general office work and the employee is regularly required to walk, talk, hear, see, stand, sit, and use hands.

Job Qualifications:

REQUIRED: Currently pursuing a paralegal certificate, associate's or bachelor's degree in legal studies, or a related field. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); any familiarity with Google Workspace /G Suite, Salesforce, Conga or any contract lifecycle management application is a plus.

PREFERRED: Previous internships or coursework in legal studies or paralegal work is preferred but not required.
