Production Scheduler
Job Overview
The Production Scheduler provides critical administrative support to the Master Production Scheduler by facilitating the planning and scheduling process to ensure production is optimized, company goals are met, and customer expectations are achieved. They will also support Shipping of Completed Cables and possibly other aspects of the Supply Chain function as, and when, required.
Additionally, the Production Scheduler will need to be a multi-tasking individual with the ability to develop a strong understanding of production processes, communicate and review schedules and priorities, resolve production scheduling problems, make recommendations to improve the processes, and assist in achieving company objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with Master Production Scheduler on production schedule, capacity planning, inventory planning, and monitoring the production process for a large customer and In House Wire requirements
- Monitor material inventory, track progress of production being mindful of factors which may affect deliveries to our end customers
- Work with purchasing to order raw materials in timely manner to maintain production schedule
- Work with Wire Mill Team to set machine priorities based on staffing
- Meet productivity standards with consistent high quality
- Obtain and track quotes for shipment of Customer Product as requested
- Prepare shipping documents for customer products, working with freight vendors as needed for timely collection of cables and raw materials
- Load / Unload trucks as needed
- Maintain accurate information in MRP system
- Identify and manage process improvements and cost reduction projects throughout the plant
- Provide backup support for supply chain staff during periods of absence
- Support special projects and customer needs by coordinating work projects with others
- Strong team player as part of a small, business-critical team
- Must be flexible and capable of multitasking to manage multiple priorities
Requirements
- This position is subject to the requirements of the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or Export Administration Regulations (EAR), as such, applicants must be a U.S. person defined as a citizen, national, U.S. lawful permanent resident, person granted asylee status in the U.S., or person admitted into the U.S. as a refugee
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain and Logistics, Business Management, or similar fields is a plus, as well as certifications in planning and inventory management
- Minimum two years of production planning experience is required
- Knowledge of production processes and quality control required
- Advanced math and analytical skills required
- Technical skills using material requirements planning and scheduling software
- Previous knowledge of manufacturing systems such as MRP/ERP (Material Resource Planning/Enterprise Resource Planning) strongly preferred
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and ability to work with local MRP system
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, comfortable at communicating with all levels of the organization
- Ability to work independently while maintaining a positive and team-oriented mindset
- Positive "can do" attitude with a desire to promote the success of the organization
- Self-driven with the ability to work under minimum supervision
- Strong sense of urgency for deadline-driven projects plus strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
- General understanding of continuous process improvement
- Thorough knowledge of job bills of materials and shop floor routings
- Ability to interpret charts and record data with a high degree of accuracy
- Team oriented and customer focused
- Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment when needed
- Perform all tasks in a safe manner by following safety regulations including wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed
- Be dependable and have a good work ethic
- Must be willing to submit to a background investigation
- Must be willing and able to pass a post-offer drug screen
