Position Purpose |
The Program Planner/Designer provides planning, design and limited project management services for new program spaces, department relocation, small- and medium-scale building renovations and, occasionally, new construction. The position facilitates and manages projects from initial programming and conceptual design through project budgeting and scheduling, and, when necessary, solicitation of licensed professionals to proceed with the building permit, design development and construction processes. |

Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities |
- Bachelor's degree or technical certification related to interior design, construction and project management, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Five years in planning, designing and facilitating projects.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
- Proficient with design and/or construction software, such as AutoCad, Revit, and SketchUp.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Familiarity with a broad variety of higher education design environments
- Ability to negotiate and resolve confrontational issues as they arise.

Planning/Programming/Design
- Determine and document program scope of work.
- Creates alternate conceptual design solutions.
- Develop project schedule and phasing plans as required.
- Prepare presentation materials to include a project budget, 2D and 3D drawings, furnishings layouts, finish concepts and other materials to communicate plans.
- On select projects may manage the design team selection process including preparation of appropriate RFQs and RFPs.
