Outside Sales Representative Location: Greenwood Village, CO City Light & Power, Inc. (CLP) has built a reputation as an innovative, reliable, and responsive private Utility Development Leader, and we're looking for an Outside Sales Representative to join our sales team. CLP supports the federal government, military institutions, municipalities, and major utilities across the United States, with financing, design, engineering, construction, and ongoing operations and maintenance for electrical transmission and distribution systems. The Outside Sales Representative will develop and maintain relationships with potential and existing clients within the City Light & Power companies. The position will identify growth opportunities and develop and implement strategies to maintain and increase sales within an assigned territory. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Sales Development: Identify and prospect new clients within the electric utility sector, including utilities, municipalities, and industrial organizations.
- Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders with Electrical Contractors, Distributors, Investor-owned Utilities, Electric Cooperatives, Municipalities and other end users.
- Product Knowledge: Develop a deep understanding of our products and services, including power distribution systems, smart grid technologies, and energy management solutions, to effectively communicate their value to potential customers.
- Sales Strategy: Collaborate with the sales and marketing teams to create tailored sales strategies and proposals that align with client needs and business objectives.
- Market Analysis: Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer feedback to identify new opportunities and refine sales strategies.
- Reporting: Provide regular updates on sales activities, pipeline status, and customer feedback through CRM systems and reports.
- Customer Support: Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction through post-sale support and collaboration with the customer service team.
- Create and maintain positive relations with vendors, internal business unit leaders and strategic business relationships; utilize contacts to ensure CLP customers are getting the best value and support.
- Apply industry knowledge to offer technical / practical options to customers.
- Provide consultation to customers regarding electrical solution needs. Engage CLP/CLPE departments to support solution efforts.
- Attend and support applicable customer events, trade shows, etc.
- Actively participate in sales and budget planning in order to formulate an appropriate client schedule.
- Work with the CLP marketing team to create compelling sales materials that highlight the Company value propositions/differentiators.
- Plan sales activities with Distributors, major account Clients, and for major projects, in an assigned territory.

- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Construction Engineering, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of eight (8+) years' experience in technical sales or business development, or a combination of education and experience.
- Previous sales experience in the utility industry strongly preferred. Experience in related fields such as industrial construction, power engineering, etc. may substitute.
- Proven sales experience with creating new opportunities and maintaining excellent customer relations.
- Demonstrated track-record of growing assigned market segments and achieving established goals and quotas.
- Ability to make cold calls to boost sales, maximize productivity and build a customer base.
- Competent with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Power Point, Excel, Outlook).
- Excellent presentation skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
Travel:
- 40-50% overnight travel primarily within assigned region: CO and surrounding states.
- The ability and availability to travel, attend meetings and functions outside typical business hours required.
Other Requirements:
- You must be a US citizen.
- You will be required to obtain Military Base Access Security Clearance.
- A valid driver's license with a record that meets CLP Fleet Policy required.
Benefits & Compensation:
- CLP offers an excellent benefits package that includes medical insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, 401k with company contribution, paid time off and paid holidays.
- Salary range: $120,000-$140,000 based on experience, plus eligible to participate in Short Term Incentive Plan.
