Job Description - Infrastructure Operations Supervisor

Position Description

Manages the administration of day-to-day IT infrastructure operations. Provides support for current technologies and processes in place as well as project management, technical expertise, and strategic direction for new initiatives. Assists the Manager of IT Infrastructure in the initiation, support and monitoring of infrastructure programs and services in order to attain successful completion of company and department goals and strategies.

As defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, these include the following responsibilities, minimum job knowledge, skills, and abilities. This is not necessarily an all-inclusive listing.

Position-Related Responsibilities

  • Supervises, provides leadership, and coordinates activities of assigned work group(s).
  • Manage daily IT infrastructure operations tasks per Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) including IT system restorations, security remediation, lifecycle configurations / upgrades (e.g. hardware refreshes, firmware updates), incident/problem escalations, moves/adds/changes, performance management, capacity management, advanced triage, NOC/SOC run-book maintenance, security patching and data center operations. IT Systems include but are not limited to Cisco networking & telephony, cellular modems, data center power and cooling systems, data center cabling, Microsoft Windows Server and Exchange, Oracle Sun Solaris, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Netapp NAS, Automatic batch scheduling, VMWare vSphere/Horizon, Symantec Enterprise Vault, Solarwinds Orion monitoring/alerting, and APC Infrastructure Central.
  • Defines Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with IT Operations engineering teams, and measure and report on adherence to defined service levels.
  • Ensure IT Service Management processes and procedures are followed and administer the Change, Incident and Problem Management program for IT Operations.
  • Provide technical or project management expertise in the administration of infrastructure services and technologies at UNS.
  • Plan and test the speed and accuracy of data recovery and restore procedures and lead scheduled hot site disaster recovery tests.
  • Monitor and evaluate vendor performance and contracts associated with infrastructure operations partners and carry-out company policies and procedures associated with vendor agreements.
  • Establish Infrastructure Operations budget and perform reconciliations of budget.
  • Ensure adherence to security controls for IT infrastructure systems.
  • Responsible for IT controls and audit process deliverables in regards to systems availability, changes, and impacts of outages to applications. This includes SOX and non-SOX related IT controls.
  • This position may provide services to affiliates of the Company subject to the UNS Energy Code of Conduct and the related Policies and Procedures.

Management Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the Company's management principles, policies and programs are consistently practiced and continually support the Affirmative Action Plan.
  • Assume fiduciary responsibility for operating the business and provide recommendations on cost improvement measures.
  • Ensure that the Performance Management program is administered uniformly and effectively.
  • Mentors staff and peers to enhance their understanding of infrastructure operations processes and technologies.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.)

  • Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science or related discipline or equivalent or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous professional systems administration of Cisco, Microsoft and/or Oracle technologies above. Technical and/or professional certifications (e.g. CCNP/DP, MCSE or Solaris Certified System Administrator) a plus.
  • 3-5 years of senior administration or supervisory experience in an organization with over 500 clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills. Must have high level of interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines and supervise others with emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail.

Pay Rate: Salary determined based on candidate's experience & qualifications.
