Position Highlights The University of Arizona's Student Engagement & Career Development (SECD) department is seeking a qualified candidate to fill their Career Educator position.

The Career Educator is a member of a collaborative and supportive team who provides centralized services and resources to help guide students in planning, preparing, and implementing strategies throughout the career development life cycle, with a particular focus on job and internship searches. This individual will have a focus on direct student contact (both individual, group, and curricular). This position may also provide general support and engagement with other members of the Career Education team and student employees.

The role will utilize online resources that educate students in career design mindset, proactive networking strategies, successful job applications, and interview strategies to maximize the reach and outcomes of the department. This will include supporting updates to the Career Education content on the SECD website.

An ideal candidate will enjoy creating a community of support for students. This may include developing and maintaining relationships with other campus partners, instructing or co-instructing for-credit courses that support career exploration and development, and partnering to deliver curricular and co-curricular activities and assignments in support of partners within the University's numerous academic colleges.

This position on occasion may work evenings and weekend hours.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provide
    career education and coaching in small group, online, and 1:1 settings.
  • Provide
    feedback and support for students in active job or internship searches
    through review of resumes, cover letters, and professional networking
    profiles submitted through Career Documents Dropbox.
  • Maintain
    an understanding of career coaching and education best practices across
    the student lifecycle/Career Journey Map.
  • Maintain
    a caseload of students related to the Paid Internship Initiative and conduct
    personalized communication and support in conjunction with student staff
    support, as well as assessment and reporting of student outcomes.
  • Assist
    with the delivery of for-credit career courses such as Design Your Life
    & Design Your Search to a diverse student audience.
  • Assist
    with creation and management of specialized curriculum and programming for
    student populations. Including curricular and co-curricular activities and
    materials.
  • Customize
    and deliver career readiness presentations that can be integrated into
    curriculum or delivered in co-curricular settings.
  • Provide
    insight and feedback in the creation and implementation of educational
    campaigns to enhance awareness and use of career development
    resources.
  • Support
    content generation for Career Education resources on SECD's website,
    ensuring that students have access to inclusive content tailored to their
    professional interests and career journey stage.
  • Maintain
    accurate records and reporting of coaching activities, using data to
    optimize staff coverage and available appointment blocks.
  • Perform
    related duties as assigned or required to meet Department and University
    goals and objectives.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 6 months of relevant work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with supporting programming, self-assessment, career development, and/or academic coaching to students and/or staff.
  • Experience with curricular delivery, including online environments.
  • Experience customizing and delivering engaging presentations and workshops.
  • Experience working with diverse student populations.
