Roche Carlsbad's Sites Department includes the following disciplines: Facilities Management, Facilities Engineering, Security, SHE (Safety, Health, & Environment), as well as sustainability. The Facilities Engineer Intern position at Roche offers a unique opportunity for students pursuing or Degree in engineering to gain hands-on experience in facilities engineering and management within a regulated cGxP environment. The internship is designed to provide exposure to various aspects of facility management while working under the guidance of a Facilities Engineer. Interns will engage in meaningful projects that contribute to the operational efficiency and energy conservation of plant systems.

The Opportunity

  • Assist in identifying engineering needs for site facilities.

  • Contribute to defining projects and developing innovative solutions.

  • Assist in the implementation of engineering changes/additions and participate in the development of project documentation.

  • Learn to represent the site as a Facilities Subject Matter Expert (SME) on capital projects.

  • Learn about preventative, corrective, and predictive maintenance and contribute to the development of maintenance strategies and programs.

  • Assist in ensuring cost-effective and reliable operation of plant equipment and systems.

  • Support the development and implementation of projects to improve energy conservation.

  • Learn about cost and energy savings metrics and reporting and identify energy savings opportunities.

  • Contract Management, purchasing,and financial management opportunities

Program Highlights

  • Intensive 12-weeks , full-time (40 hours per week) paid internship.

  • Program start dates are in May/June (Summer)

  • A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship.

  • Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects.

  • Work with some of the most talented people in the biotechnology industry.

Who You Are

Required Education: You meet one of the following criteria:

- Must be pursuing or have attained a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Process), or Construction Management

  • This role also involves actively participating in continuous improvement projects and working closely with Facilities leadership, engineering, security, and SHE teams

  • Support departments in Integrated Workplace Management Solutions

  • Assist Facilities with Building inspections, Gemba, and regulatory inspections

  • Project Management

  • Communications

  • Data & Trend Analysis

  • Validations

Required Majors:

Required Skills:

  • Technical Skills: Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Suite.

  • Teamwork: Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment and contribute to group objectives.

  • Analytical Abilities: Strong research and analytical skills to evaluate data and identify trends.

Preferred Skills, and Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $22.00-$55.00 hour. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also qualifies for paid holiday time off benefits.
