In the role of HIM Manager, Inpatient you'll be responsible for implementing effective new strategies, and enhancing workflows and performance with the team in coordination with the Sr. Director of HIM. About The Position



  • Provides oversight, guidance, and workflow of all Health Information Management services
  • Accepts responsibility and accountability for operations of assigned functional areas
  • Completes all inpatient auditing duties for the coding team, depending on assignment
  • Attends weekly client calls and escalates any issues to the Sr. Director of HIM
  • Oversees continuous coding education; assigns and monitors completion of trainings in the coding LMS platform
  • Holds monthly team meetings with staff for updates and team building
  • Holds regular one on one with staff
  • Identifies and implements changes productivity and quality measures, and ensures that staff follows performance improvements related to work-flow efficiencies and operations
  • Under direction of the Sr. Director of HIM, recruits, interviews, and makes recommendations to fill personnel vacancies
  • Evaluates staff performance on a monthly basis through productivity and quality measures, and ensures that staff is following and meeting departmental standards
  • Maintains excellent written and verbal communication with the Sr. Director of HIM regarding any issues or concerns with staff
  • Provides associates training, feedback, and corrective action to staff as needed
  • Responds to inquiries of staff, vendors, and the public to provide information and/or direction, discussing and resolving any issues
  • Prepares, oversees, and approves work schedules. Reviews and approves Unanet timecards for all direct reports
  • Assists with special projects and other duties as assigned by the Sr. Director of HIM



Position Requirements:



  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required
  • RHIA or RHIT required
  • CPC or CCS required
  • 6-months experience in a HIM Supervisor/Auditor role required
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in Inpatient coding and auditing
  • At least 3-years' experience in an acute care facility with experience directly related to HIM
  • 1-year experience in hospital based electronic medical record systems required
  • Previous management/supervisor experience preferred
  • Demonstrates a high level of personal and professional accountability and responsibility
  • Ability to solve problems and apply critical thinking skills
