Healthcare Customer Service Representative

Location: Remote (Work-from-Home)
Schedule: 2 weeks Training Monday to Friday, 8:00 am- 4:30pm EST.

Work: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am- 4:30pm EST and one day 11:30 am -8:00pm EST

Pay rate: $ 15-19 hourly, depending on candidate's experience.

Experience: 1 to 2 years (Experience in Healthcare Products and Patient Calling preferred)
Travel: None required

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated Customer Service Healthcare Representative with 1 to 2 years of experience to join our team. This position is open to everyone and offers flexibility to work from home with rotational shifts. The ideal candidate will have experience in healthcare products and patient calling and will be responsible for managing patient interactions and ensuring high-quality service delivery.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage patient interactions through calls, ensuring a high level of customer service.
  • Provide accurate information about healthcare products.
  • Document patient interactions and maintain records in the system.
  • Follow up with patients to ensure their needs are met and issues are resolved.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and company policies..
  • Monitor patient feedback and suggest improvements to service delivery.
  • Participate in training sessions to stay updated on healthcare products and services.
  • Handle patient inquiries and complaints in a professional manner.
  • Support the team in achieving performance targets and goals.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient information at all times.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in healthcare products and systems: Epic, Meditec or similars
  • Experience in patient calling, insurance, collections, and copayments.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Familiarity with healthcare regulations and compliance.
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency in using healthcare software.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
  • Demonstrate the ability to independently set up new equipment.
  • Exhibit proficiency in navigating multiple browsers, applications, and screens simultaneously.
  • Follow verbal instructions effectively.
  • Work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Maintain strong, clear, and professional verbal communication at all times.
  • Possess a basic understanding of insurance terms (e.g., copay, deductible, out-of-pocket).
  • Negotiate and set up payment plans effectively.
  • Remain calm and professional while demonstrating empathy and compassion towards patient concerns.

Essential Functions

  • Taking inbound calls, acting as representative of the hospital, to arrange debt repayment based on patient's financial situation and client repayment guidelines, via credit card, check or obtained insurance, and record all updates and acquired information on accounts.
  • Understands and utilizes the HIPAA and TCPA talk offs on each call.
  • Ensure all required statements have been sent on accounts handled and request statements as necessary.
  • Properly handle all patient disputes, by obtaining all pertinent information and noting dispute on account and escalating to supervisor as necessary.
  • Assists in making outbound calls when necessary.
  • Performs other activities and responsibilities as assigned

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent

At least 1-year related experience

Salary and Other Compensation:

The hourly rate for this position is between $15.00 - 19.00 per hour, depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
