Position Summary:

The Grossing Technician is responsible for receiving specimens, verifying specimens, ensuring specimen integrity, describing specimen, cutting specimen, and placing specimen in cassette. In addition, the Grossing Technician responsibilities include but are not limited to providing gross description for each specimen; dissecting and preparing/inking specimen according to Pathologists' direction; loading prepared cassettes into Tissue Processor; filing/retrieving blocks and slides in an accurate and timely manner; and performing appropriate quality control and assurance procedures.

Requirements

Education & Experience:

  • Associate degree in laboratory, medical laboratory technology, or education and training equivalent Required
  • 1-year experience in laboratory setting dealing with high complexity testing Preferred
