Are you our Purchasing Intern?

This role reports directly to the Purchasing Manager and offers a hybrid schedule based out of our Auburn Hills, MI, facility. Your ability to prioritize tasks, stay detail-oriented, think resourcefully, and take ownership of your work will be essential to your success in this dynamic internship experience.

Here's how you'll make an impact:

The Purchasing Intern will assist Project Buyers in various tasks, with a primary focus on providing material status updates aligned with the project schedule. This role involves working closely with buyers to procure materials and external build services while ensuring compliance with project specifications, timelines, and budget requirements.

The intern will collaborate with the Production Manager, Project Managers, and Engineering teams to identify and address risks related to material availability and sourcing capabilities. Additionally, they will support the development of supply agreements by researching the supply industry, evaluating sourcing options, and negotiating agreements that enhance market competitiveness in cost, quality, and delivery performance.



Essential Responsibilities

  • Play an active role on multiple project teams to drive project success and ultimately an exceptional customer experience.
  • Manage suppliers with a sense of urgency to meet Right First Quality, On-time & at Budget.
  • Demonstrate sharp negotiation and analytical skills.
  • Assist with managing outside build suppliers according to project timelines.


  • Work closely with suppliers to develop optimal inventory strategies to manage both long lead-time items and high usage commodity parts.
  • Proactively manage material delivery risks and provide creative solutions to resolve issues.
  • Conduct all business with honesty and the highest level of integrity.
  • Inspire and embrace an energetic and thriving work environment by exuding a positive and respectful attitude and a passion to deliver an exceptional customer experience.


To Succeed, You Will Need:

  • Currently enrolled in a college or university and in good academic standing focused on Supply Chain.
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with a requirement to be on-site in the office for three days per week.
  • Strong critical thinking, troubleshooting, and self-management abilities
  • Proficiency in MS applications
  • Desire to be a part of a growing, dynamic team
