Job Description Summary:
The Biostatistics Center of the Milken Institute School of Public Health is an off-campus research facility of The George Washington University located in Rockville, Maryland. The Biostatistics Center serves as the coordinating center for large scale multi-center clinical trials and epidemiological studies funded by federal agencies including the National Institutes of Health. The Biostatistics Center is seeking a full-time Sr. Biostatistician to work at an NIH-funded data coordinating center for large-scale clinical trials. Position will participate as a member of a team of academic biostatisticians statisticians and epidemiologists who collaborate in the conduct of major clinical trials research. Major responsibilities of this position are planning, conducting and supervising research. Leads and/or serves on Committees. The position manages projects and may serve as Co-Investigator or Principal Investigator of a research study.

Duties most typically performed by the Sr. Biostatistician include utilizing their extensive relevant professional experience and judgment to the following:

- Participates in the design of research studies, and collaborates with medical investigators on the development and application of methodological research in collaboration with Center faculty.
- Performs statistical analysis of data using advanced statistical procedures using statistical software ( SAS and R). May perform, analyze and report on independent research, or may supervise statisticians performing statistical analysis.
- Contributes to project development from beginning to end. Directs the coordination of tasks and workflow of a multi-disciplinary team of programmers and researchers to ensure deliverables are completed efficiently.
- Oversees the development and management of research study protocol, documents, manual of operations and standard procedures. Manages the preparation of research study reports and ensures all new development output is documented.
- Writes abstracts, posters, reports and manuscripts for major publications in leading health, medical and other journals and presentations of analysis results. Collaborates with study investigators and writing committees to prepare oral and poster presentations.
- Assists and/or may obtain new grants and manage research project budget.
- May supervise the staff who oversee data management (auditing, editing & analysis) and quality control of research study databases and websites, as well as the exporting of research study databases to sponsor's data repository for completed analysis projects.
- Oversees the training and certification of new sites and participants in research study procedures. Supervises the troubleshooting of any problems that arise, and reviews performance of clinical sites.
- Performs general oversight of research study activities and communications with sites to coordinate and document resolution of research study issues.
- Maintains daily communication/interaction with onsite personnel to receive training and assignments; determines specifications and complete assignments; conveys status of work and other questions and test results.
- Communicates with Biostatistics Center Systems Support staff and Administrative staff on a daily basis regarding systems and administrative details.
- Participates in site visits and study group meetings that may require travel to other locations in the Washington DC metropolitan area or other cities in the US.
- Performs other work related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will hold a MS or MPH in Biostatistics, Statistics, Health Data Science, Epidemiology, or related field, plus 8 years of relevant experience, or a Doctoral degree in a relevant area of study plus 6 years of relevant experience. Relevant experience must be progressive Master's level or equivalent in Statistics, biostatistics, or related field. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position.
