Job Summary

Job Description

The Maintenance Technician position has responsibilities for preventative maintenance, trouble shooting and repair of various plant machinery, equipment and infrastructure. Overall duties will be to maintain safe and efficient company facilities that are compliant with all operational, business, and legal requirements, and may perform, assist or oversee repairs, additions or modifications to facility infrastructure.

This is a skilled maintenance technician position, who works largely independently.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develops strategies to safely resolve problems with the least amount of downtime, or cost to company
  • Plans the scopes of work, time, and materials required to complete tasks assigned
  • Repairs and provides preventive services to a wide variety of machinery throughout the facility such as: air tools, cranes & hoist, dock levelers, scissor lift, gates, pallet rack, guard rails, stretch wrappers, foam machines, man-doors, dock doors, air conditioners, hand tools, air lines etc.
  • Performs various OSHA and RCRA inspections such as: cranes & hoist, dock levelers, fire suppression systems, hazardous chemicals, fall restraint systems, eye wash & shower stations, paint booth, SDS maintenance, etc.
  • Minor electrical such as bulb and ballast changes, plug repairs, etc.
  • Performs plumbing repairs.
  • Minor office modifications, drywall repairs and painting.
  • Able to operate material handling equipment such as: forklifts, reach trucks, order pickers, scissor lifts.
  • Safely performs minor welding and metal cutting to include hot work permits and fire watch.
  • Coordinate and work with external suppliers and vendors.
  • Participate in facility Safety and 6S activities
  • Should be able to provide tools and equipment to accomplish the above or work with Nidec CSC provided tools and equipment.
Education and Experience:
  • HS Diploma or Equivalent
  • 2-year Trade/Technical maintenance program preferred
  • Material handling equipment repair and preventative maintenance desired
  • MINIMUM 2 YEARS OF INDUSTRIAL MAINTENANCE EXPERIENCE OR COMPLETION OF VOCATIONAL INDUSTRIAL MAINTENANCE PROGRAM.
Physical Demands: Position requires sitting, walking, stooping, bending, talking in person and by phone or video; the stamina to work the shift as scheduled and on a regular basis, ability to work in a non-climate controlled facility with exposure to heat and/or cold in accordance with weather conditions, lifting large, small or awkwardly shaped items on a regular or repeated basis as needed; extensive use of computer equipment. The physical demands described here and above are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the position.
