We are a group of engineers who develop systems that support and secure Akamai's global network. Partner with the best

As a Security Researcher in the Platform Security Engineering team you'll be defining scans for our Anomaly Detection system. You'll define scans based on information from vulnerability disclosures and from research conducted. As a user of Anomaly Detection, you will help shape the product roadmap identifying features to improve capabilities of the scanning engine.

As a Security Researcher , you will be responsible for:

  • Reading vulnerability disclosures, examining malware, and inspecting Akamai systems for vulnerabilities
  • Documenting steps to take detecting if a vulnerability exists and if it's been exploited (Indicators of Compromise)
  • Suggesting remediation steps for vulnerabilities and documenting steps necessary to verify that remediation has been successful
  • Identifying improvements to the scanning infrastructure to allow detection of additional anomaly types
  • Providing expert advice during security incidents
  • Partnering with teams throughout the software lifecycle to provide best possible services for our internal consumers.

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, statistics or equivalent or relevant experience and a certification equivalent to Offensive Security Certified Professional (OSCP)
  • Have experience defining or deploying YARA rules or Metasploit modules
  • Have experience building exploit payloads based on vulnerability research
  • Have experience working with Linux/Unix-like operating systems
  • Have experience in Python and shell scripting

Compensation

Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The base salary for this position ranges from $83,800 - $174,200/year; a candidate's salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP). Akamai provides industry-leading benefits including healthcare, 401K savings plan, company holidays, vacation (in the form of PTO), sick time, family friendly benefits including parental leave and an employee assistance program including a focus on mental and financial wellness; Eligibility requirements apply.
