About the Job

The Construction Intern will participate in a rotational learning program where they will learn from and assist the Project Manager, Pre-Con Estimator and Superintendent(s) in managing the budget, schedule, subcontractors and suppliers.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Estimating

  • Thoroughly review project documents (plans, specification, geotechnical reports, etc)

  • Complete detailed & accurate quantity takeoffs.

  • Attend and take meeting minutes for design and budget meetings of assigned projects.

  • Other duties may be assigned by Preconstruction Manager.

Field

  • Observe how to manage a project.

  • Update and monitor construction documents with changes through Procore.

  • Help create and monitor Procore documentation such as RFI's, submittals, daily reports and punch lists.

  • Take project photos, upload daily and label accordingly on Procore.

  • Monitor jobsite work practices in accordance with OSHA, JPI Illness and Injury Prevention Program, and JPI Construction Policies and Procedures Manual.

  • Other duties may be assigned by Lead Superintendent.

Project Management

  • Quantify subcontractor bids, create subcontractor initiation packets, and compose scopes of work for contracts for trades assigned by Project Manager.

  • Qualify and create subcontractor change order requests for subcontractors assigned by Project Manager.

  • Attend and take meeting minutes for weekly project review and monthly OAC meetings.

  • Assist in maintaining standardized forms and procedures for construction operation.

Non-Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Other duties as assigned.

Education, Work Experience, & Physical Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's program in construction management or related field.
