Summary

The position of Shipping Manager is responsible for creating the daily shipping schedules and coordinating available resources. They will maintain detailed records of vehicle servicing, inspection, and schedule regular vehicle maintenance to ensure safety, operational efficiency, and legal compliance.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.



  1. Develop efficient driver schedules, allocate internal resources, and contract outside resources to minimize costs and maximize customer satisfaction.
  2. Supervisory responsibility for designated production employees including interviewing, training evaluating employees, and administration/documentation of disciplinary actions as necessary.
  3. Ensure the safe operation of all hand tools and machinery by area workers, following all safety procedures. Report training needs or performance (safety) concerns to Plant Manager.
  4. Responsible for accurate reporting and ensuring trucks products are loaded to packing slips.
  5. Manage the Milwaukee drivers and shipping team.
  6. Lead area in achieving daily goals.
  7. Assist in the recruitment of quality drivers.
  8. Research, purchase, and maintain fleet trucks and trailers.
  9. Track lease schedules, investigate replacement options, investigate additional asset needs, gather quotes, summarize information, and give recommendations on whether to lease or buy vehicles.
  10. Coordinate with vendors on existing fleet contracts, potential additions, and all fleet maintenance and compliance.
  11. Maintain detailed records of vehicle servicing and inspection for all Timber Creek owned, and leased, trucks and trailers.
  12. Ensure compliance with all U.S. Department of Transport laws and regulations.
  13. Schedule regular vehicle maintenance and coordinate with respective plant managers, to minimize downtime and maintain schedules.
  14. Manage GPS logging program.
  15. Maintain a safe, organized, clean, and efficient department area.
