Overview

Seeking engineers for an exciting opportunity with the MMIC Design Center organization under CAES by Honeywell Defense Systems, located in either our Richardson, TX or Forsyth, MO locations! The MMIC Design Center is comprised of a team of 20+ MMIC and Packaging Designers creating advanced RF solutions for internal and external customers. The Center has PMO, test and test support engineering to convert designs into delivered products as well as systems expertise to support customer architectures and trade studies also enabling CAES capabilities at board and sub-array levels. Come work in a small team environment to develop innovative, leading-edge GaN and GaAs-based Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuits (MMICs); work closely with customers of specification guidance and definitions; provide technical expertise and guidance to engineering staff; act as customer interface through the design cycle; assist in proposal efforts by providing conceptual performance trade-offs to the customer's system level requirements; IR&D planning activities including definition, project planning and execution; hold design reviews; mentoring junior level Engineers; apply appropriate standards, processes, procedures and tools throughout the system development life cycle.


Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and DUTIES:

  • Customer focused; assist customers with trade-offs to assist in defining MMIC specifications
  • Leads design activity for GaN and GaAs MMIC products for microwave/millimeter-wave systems
  • Leads design in advanced packaging from multi-chip modules to flip-chip interfacing
  • Interface with customers in status reporting of performance trade-offs and compliance position
  • Develops new technology and provide inputs to the technology and product roadmaps.
  • Proficient in using RF circuit simulation tools such as AWR, ADS, Sonnet, or HFSS
  • Project lead for IR&D and product roadmaps
  • Hands-on experience in RF/Microwave measurements in the lab environment
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
  • Support Business Development team in the proposal writing process
  • Mentors and teaches other MMIC designers as appropriate.

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data, create reports, and present findings to panels, groups, teams, or departments as required
  • Good engineering work practice/ethic, self-motivated, and reliable
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver on-time and work well with multi-discipline team members and organizations
  • Ability to effectively interact and communicate with CAES senior management, as well as internal and external customers

Qualifications

MINIMUM:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical or Computer Engineering
  • Eleven (11) years of experience in advanced compound semiconductor technologies such as GaN and or GaAs including experience with microwave measurements and calibration methods: S-parameters, power, efficiency, source/load pull, noise figure, linearity and intermodulation distortion.
  • This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by US export law. In order to be eligible for this position, you must be a "US Person" under US export laws (or eligible for approval under a U.S. Government export license).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

PREFERRED:

  • Advanced Engineering or Physics Degree.
  • Experience designing linear Power Amplifier's for SATCOM such as Doherty PAs
  • Ability to effectively communicate across functions, to management, and to customers.
  • Strong analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to successfully design GaAs and GaN MMICs.
  • Proficient user of Cadence AWR, ADS, and HFSS simulation tools.
  • Broad background in theory and techniques of mmW/microwave circuits, design, and test.
  • Detailed transistor-level knowledge of RF and microwave integrated circuit design techniques including linear power amplifier design, RF switching, low noise amplifiers, bias circuits, and multi-chip module design.
  • Understanding of thermal management in MMICs.
  • Advanced Packaging technology knowledge and experience
  • RF systems knowledge such as phase array radars.
  • DOD work experience.

Salary Range: $149,893.51 - $ 219,589 annually (Richardson, TX).

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base bay. Applicable pay within the posted range may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, geographical location, job function of the position, education, and experience of the successful candidate.
