The team you'll be part of

Bell Labs Core Research, Summer Intern - Joint Network Architecture and Optical Systems and Device Research Lab Intern

Bell Labs is advancing network digital twin models to optimize and simulate communication networks, leveraging real-time modeling and simulation of systems across optical transport domains. Integrating large language model (LLM) driven solutions with digital twin models enhances data interpretation, decision-making, and cross-domain interactions. We are looking for problem solvers with excellent analytical and programming skills who are excited to explore challenges at the intersection of digital twin technologies and LLM-driven insights.

Education Recommendations

Currently pursuing a degree (preferably a candidate for PhD or Master of Science) in Computer Science, Communications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a similar from an accredited college/university in the US.

As part of our team, you will:



  • Work with Network Architecture and Optical Systems and Device Research team members to define and implement software that solves digital twin and LLM challenges.
  • Implement proof-of-concept demonstrations utilizing digital twin and LLM approaches.
  • Leverage open-source and digital twin software solutions integrated with LLM capabilities.


You have:



  • Strong programming skills: Proficiency in Python, C#, Java, JavaScript, or similar languages.
  • Knowledge of communication networks and optical transport systems.
  • Experience in natural language processing (NLP) and working with LLM/GPT models.
