Its mission is to create a comprehensive, integrated academic home that promotes research and education in clinical and translational science at UCSF, at affiliated institutions, and in participating communities. CTSI is creating and enhancing programs to improve the quality and efficiency of research in human subjects.

The Biospecimen Processing Lab (BSPL) is a central research core housed within the UCSF CTSI. The BSPL collects, processes, stores, and distributes liquid and tissue biospecimens for research. BSPL provides long-term biobanking services for the UCSF community through our nine sample processing units, Mt Zion freezer farm, and Oyster Point freezer farm.
