JOB SUMMARY: Responsibility for maintaining and supporting a product quality and inspection system consistent with the plant's quality policies and objectives including, but not limited to, dimensional, control of all inspection and furnace calibrations, metallurgical, NDT and part traceability.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Assist the quality department in establishing, implementing and maintaining the quality management system. (AS9100)
- Responsible for continuous improvement activities to enhance the quality system, such as 5S, Kaizen, and LEAN efforts.
- Read and interpret blueprints, factory routers, sketches and drawings, MSDS sheets and safety related information.
- Work with customer auditors to facilitate audits, close out audit findings using proper corrective and preventive actions.
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled calibrations on gages and measurement equipment to maintain measurement integrity.
- Calibrate a wide variety of instruments such as dial indicators, micrometers, calipers, CMMs (coordinate measuring machines), and pressure gauges.
- Maintain calibration certifications, ensure compliance with industry regulations, and follow quality standards (ISO, ASTM, NADCAP).
- responsible for all maintenance of the calibration system.
- Ensure PO requirements for all necessary flowdown requirements for all calibration contracted services
- Ensure all calibration records for contracted services are reported correctly and retained in calibration system.
- Ensure on time schedule adherence for all calibration devices.
- Coordinate with all contracted service providers to ensure adequate P.O. coverage and ensure scheduled calibrations are completed before due date.
- Ensure all calibration records from pyrometry system is complete and accurate
- Troubleshoot and repair faulty measurement equipment, as needed.
- Collaborate with engineers and production staff to address calibration-related issues.
- Maintain and update calibration records using electronic systems.
- Assist in maintaining the calibration database and assist with audits when required.
- Provide training to staff on proper calibration procedures and measurement techniques.
- Support site needs related to over-inspection, shipment write up, and other Quality dock area functions.
- Scan and analyze MRB parts, dies and parts for press setup, mismatch, and LOF.
- Run CMM production parts and touch parts for operators.
- Interpret CMM reports for Supervisors, Operators and QEs.
- Conduct First Article Inspections (FAIs) and run statistical reports.
- Repair statistical databases and run blade reports
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent (associate's degree in a technical field preferred).
- Experience in calibration or a related technical role, preferably in manufacturing or production environments.
- Knowledge of calibration standards (e.g., ISO 9001, ANSI, ASTM, NADCAP).
- Familiarity with tools such as micrometers, calipers, height gages, and other precision instruments.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and documentation skills.
