The Role
Mission:
Strategically assist the Credit Control team to avoid bad debt and control Accounts Receivable delinquency via guidance in risk management and continuous improvement in operational processes. Identify tools and systems to maximize efficiency and improve credit decision results that protect the value of the asset. Determine and implement the company's Credit Policy to improve business flow and customer service while focusing to minimize cost, optimize sales and cash flow. Pro-actively and constructively, provide input and suggestions to maximize the cash collecting capabilities of the Credit and Collections team in a manner consistent with business objectives, market strategy and our Business Code of Practice.
Roles and Responsibilities:
CREDIT & ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE
- Determine, document and implement company-wide credit policy and procedures
- Enforce credit and collection policies and procedures and serve as an escalation point for customer queries and complaints, payment disputes and write-offs.
- Direct collection efforts on past due balances if needed. Work with delinquent customer to establish payment schedules
- Manage all Accounts Receivable balances.
- Supervise and train the Credit and Collections team.
- Calculate, recommend and maintain adequate reserve levels for bad debt.
- Investigate credit history, establish credit limits and maintain customer credit files.
- Manage relationships and liaise between external Vendors - collection agencies, attorneys and financial institutions to maximize the broad value of their contributions to the Company.
- Recommendations to Management on handling of very large delinquencies/defaults/bankruptcies with personal, active involvement as required.
- Communicate effectively with customers fostering our business relationship.
- Support Internal and External Audits related to Accounts Receivable.
SALES TAX
- Ensure operational compliance with the US and Canada Sales & Use Taxes. Includes maintaining accurate information in the tax management system and accuracy of invoicing with regard to sales tax.
- Collaborate with Holding Company with regard to communication and education on state taxation rules and regulations.
- Provide support during sales tax audits
NEW ACCOUNT/MASTER DATA MANAGEMENT
- Act as the SAP Data Steward for setting up all new customers in company ERP system.
- Review and approve all credit applications for the US, Canada and Mid-South
- Collaborate with sales department to insure correct and consistent discount codes are used
- Research potential customer's credit history to assign credit limits
- Maintain the integrity of the master data information on all active customers
OTHER
- Act as the administrator for the Company's Merchant Credit Card programs, including Data Security Compliance for multiple locations throughout the US.
- Complete credit reference inquiries on existing customers
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Contribute to positive Company branding by projecting a knowledgeable, professional and customer-oriented image to customers
- Perform all duties in accordance with Atlas Copco standards, while always striving to understand the needs and expectations of the customer whether external or internal.
- Take whatever action is appropriate and required to get the job done. Establish and maintain communications with all people/employees considered where necessary.

What we expect of you?
Skills:
- Proven ability to manage large Accounts Receivable portfolio and maintain adequate risk controls.
- Credit Card and Electronic Payments Processing and related banking concepts and data security standards.
- Proficient in SAP preferred for Accounts Receivable and Credit management
- PC/Microsoft desktop applications.
- Understand US and Canada Sales Tax regulations.
- Strong skills in Uniform Commercial Code - specifically in filing UCC filings when needed.
- Strong Leadership Skills including the ability to handle stress, to manage time and people and to analyze numbers.
- Strong overall communications skills
- Energetic, detailed oriented, able to adhere to deadlines.
- Effectively interact with all levels of management, both internal and external.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration.
Experience:
- Credit and collections operations in the financial services or manufacturing industry preferred. Understanding of related accounting concepts. Strong capabilities for risk management, business and operational processes, internal auditing, financial reporting and other internal controls.
